LOD has too many vertices [BrokenAssetException]
I have created a model of which the game tells me that the lod has too many vertices [186 verts; 226 tris].
Because of that I reduced the vert and tris count to 87 verts and 121 tris.
Same error, too many vertices broken asset. hmm..
So I reduced it further to 27 verts and 49 tris to finally solve this problem but, same error, still too many verts.

I think it's very strange because the game never seems to be satisfied with the LOD.
What makes it even stranger is that I have also created other assets of which the lod's have around about 100-200 verts. Most of those are props and all work just fine, except for one.

I couldn't find a solution and a google search didn't help as well.

If I let skylines create the lod, it seems to work without a problem. But, well, the LOD's from skylines look very, veeeeery bad.

Does anybody know how it is possible that one asset with less verts has "too many", while another asset with more verts works just fine?

What's the solution here? Does someone have the same problem?

What 3D modeling program are you using to create the geometry for the LOD model? Do you have hidden geometry that is adding to the LOD triangle count? If you are a Blender user I can potentially help.

Thanks for trying to help :D:
I'm using blender, there is no hidden geometry inside the LOD.
Do you have some other suggestions?

No worries - the other thing I was thinking of is did you duplicate your model somehow? If the model was duplicated on itself and all the vertexes are layered you may not notice. Have you tried using the "delete duplicate vertex" feature within a specific distance? You can set it very close so any duplicate vertex is deleted within a specific range.

1. Select the part of the mesh in which you want to remove double vertices. Usually, you want to remove them from the whole mesh, which you can select with A.

2. Press W to access the Specials menu and pick the Remove Doubles option (by default, it lacks a shortcut). In the Info area, usually at the top of the interface, you’ll get a notification displaying the number of vertices that you removed.

Also that wasn't the case.

But I've found the problem, It was , of course, completely my fault. I haven't payed attention to what the exporter from blender was doing.

Seems like the export to fbx applies also the modifiers which are turned off.
So it applied the Subdivision Surface Modifier and therfore gave the lod much more geometry.
I haven't noticed it becauce I assumed it wouldn't apply mods which are turned off. But it did anyway [Strange, why?].

I thank you anyway because you made me look at the problem again. Thank you very much! :ironfist:

AH! Yes the exporter has an option that says, "apply transform" and "apply modifiers" but I didn't know that it would turn "on" modifiers that were set "off" - good to know. Glad this brainstorming helped - we both learned something! :)

By turned off I mean the eye wich is used to show the modifier's effect inside of the viewport was turned to off. The camera to show the effect during rendering was turned on.
[Those Icons on the Modifier itself] Just to be clear :tgrin:

And yes, I've learnd to never blindly trust the exporter nor the off/on switches on the modifiers again.

Getting this single error only when loading my map now. Sighs.....

Broken assets:

410998698.OCP Building_Data: LOD has too many vertices [BrokenAssetException]

Details:
No details

I downloaded more than 500 buildings today with different building packs. If this community cannot help me, I will check one building per day each day, which can take up to 2 years to find it.

Thank you.
