No demand for anything, unemployment rate is 40%
I seem to have come to a problem that I can't solve, I have nothing wrong with my city but the population is stuck at 50,000. The only problem is I have an unployment rate of 40% and 18,000 available jobs but my citizens will not take the job and yet there is no demand for industry.

i also have no demand for residential and commercial with tons of empty spots available to be filled. I have also dropped my taxed from 9% to 7% and that is not helping either.

So what wrong? lol

It sounds like you built the Hadron Collider. That will cause huge unemployment as it puts young adults to work.

Dezone your empty residential without buildings and build more commerce industry, but mostly offices to give them jobs. It'll take a while, but they'll work eventually.

And how many cims are working? If you have 17,500 cims working and only 18,000 jobs available then you must create new jobs. The "available jobs" number includes the jobs that your cims are already employed at. It is the total amount of jobs you have in your city. 40% unemployment rate means you need to create more jobs. Zone for jobs; they'll eventually be filled although some of your cims may leave the city.

It's the golden rule; when unemployment is high zone jobs; when low zone residential. Pay no attention to the demand bars, and never zone for that which you do not presently need. Do pay attention to the unemployment rate. It doesn't matter if there is demand or not.

It's clear you don't have enough jobs for your cims.

Maybe I didn't make it clear, I have 18,000 avaiable jobs they wilt not take, I have empty industrial spots that will not build, I have many residential and commercial spots that are completely empty as well.

No I never built the Hadron Collider. I also have a empty office block that won't build offices eitrher

We'll have to see a screenshot. Do you mean to say that you have 18,000 more jobs than there are cims employed? The same window that tells you how many available jobs you have also shows you the number of employed cims. You must subtract the number of employed from the number of "jobs available" to tell you how many jobs are available to unemployed cims.

Yes I have 18000 more jobs no one is doing at all and they will not take them, as I said I have a 40% unemployment rate

As I said, we'll need to see a screenshot to help you.

Wait ok I read that wrong, I guess I only have 3000 jobs available with a 40% unemployment rate so I guess this the problem.

but then I have lots of empty zones in industry and commercial they aren't building on hmmm
bradybrklyn Nov 23, 2017 @ 7:45pm
Well you'll just have to wait until those areas build. Do you also have zoned residential areas that are available? If so, dezone them. You can't do both things at once. It's bad practice to zone areas when you don't need them. Only zone what you need. Again, unemployment low, zone residential; unemployment high zone jobs.

Sometimes your city will get out of balance and you will need to wait for it to get back into balance. It is a mistake to zone large areas at once. Only zone those areas that you need at the moment.

Don't forget building will level up as well and they increase workers and jobs on their own. So they meet their own demand on top of your zoning.

Maybe post a save of your game. We can have it debugged in minutes rather than playing guessing games all day, if you know what I mean.

Otherwise, just stop zoning and put it on x3 speed for a while and let it do it's own thing.

Just watch for service demands to make sure they get what they need as it grows on its own.

Just as I thought, you are using a demand mod (Demand Master) and it is set to off somehow.

I'd recommend removing it completely as it will allow you to grow unchecked and your city will become out of balance. i.e. traffic out of control, like it is already.

But other than that, it seems fine.

ok.i think i know this problem. If you have the hadron collider in the city, then that is the problem.
This has happened to me in my old city springfield. If you have the hadron collider, please demolish it.it puts all the 50000 citizens to work.and the industry is failing because of that.
chris1 Nov 24, 2017 @ 3:18pm
No I don't have the hadron colider and I thought I removed all my demand mods, I'll have to look again. I know I put some demand mods on because of the problem.
