Ships stuck on hydroelectric dam
Hello,

I have a little problem on my game, ships are very often stuck into hydroelectric dam and the only workaround i found for now is to delete them.

Any solutions ?

Thank you for your answer,

Here a screenshot of the river with the boat stucks : https://i.imgur.com/Nj6uqVX.jpg

I don't understand what do you mean by "divert" the river (i understand the sentence but not the way of doing it)

And yes for now it's only an esthetic/visual issue.

You can edit the shipping lane so that ships do not travel upriver to the dam at all.
Also, why are you dumping sewage on the outflow side of the dam? This may reduce the power output of the dam and placing them on the reservoir side is more likely to help maintain the flow into the dam.
Then again I don't understand the dam's placement there, especially as I can see that the city is built within the dam reservoir's flood plain.

I'm new on this game and i'm always bad at this type of game, but the reason for what i placed these here is because i thought that it will decrease the level of water behind (upside ?) the dam. Before that i saw often water go over the dam.

Sewage outlets pump out fluid, while water pumps suck up fluid. So sewage outlets/treatment plants would only add to water behind the dam, while in your example they are adding water in front of the dam.

But it's not better to adding water in front of the dam ? Because adding water behind it will overload it and water will pass over, no ?

It is not better to add water directly in front of the dam, especially where the output flow is generated by the dam.
It can be beneficial to add water behind the dam, but that doesn't have to be directly behind the dam itself and can be placed further upstream.
You have to understand the way a dam works to produce power.
A volume of water has to pass through a dam at a higher point to a lower point. So, increasing the water volume behind the dam can partly increase the power produced, but increasing the volume in front of the dam can partly reduce the power produced.

Personally, I don't use the water used for my dams as part of my water supply or sewage treatment. I would use another water source instead.

In any case, if you effectively block a shipping route by placing a dam, then you will of course, have to change that shipping route and move any terminals that it uses.

Thank you very much, i think i will remove the dam because i just unlock the power solar panel energy solution :p

Heh that works too ;)
But don't give up on the hydroelectric dam. They require a little more thought and planning, but then that's to be expected as a major piece of engineering! Still, they are my favourite method of power generation. Here's a guide that may help you if and when you decide to use them in the future ;)

and here's a working example in this savegame which you may use yourself to examine it or build a city with,
