Can people truly interchange between transportations in game?
I am a fun of subways and trains so I really enjoy building trains in this game.

In real world, people always use to interchange from one line to another. For example, one would get off the intercity train at a large train station, and walk to the nearest subway station. Or one could take a bus to the nearest subway station and take a train to work.

However I don't believe this game designed the interchange function, simply because that's far complex for devs I think.

And when I build, for example, a subway line, I can see that the positions of other transportations have almost no effect on passenger amount. If I connect subway to a large train station, it seems no more passenger number is added to the subway statistics. I highly doubt that only nearby people will use this line, while interchange flow never exists.

Are they truly designed to interchange between transportations in this game?

Yes, if they want to go somewhere they can't get to using only one line, they will switch lines.

I've watched cims jump off a bus to jump straight onto a tram, for example

Yes I micromanagement public transport, and follow cims radomly. They use interchange trasportations in a realistic way.
The only thing that is not so good, is when the transportation line ends ,they appear their cars from his pockets to reach their deistination if is so far. So I see a lot of new cars , emerging from the Subway station.

So when they get off the car to a train, their car disappear directly?

I love this pocket car technology cims have, I wonder when we will have those

Look up the pre-mass transit bus exchanges, people pave roads close to each other linked with overpasses to create transportation exchanges way before they were merged into buildings

Yes, this is why we term them "pocket cars" they will also do the same with bicycles.

Yes the truly do. I see them go from bus to train. From bus to sub/metro. From bus to sub to train to end up at the airport to take a plane out of town. I made a tourist hub of sorts, airport, two bus stops a metro station and train station with many parking lots. They transfer from one transit option to another here. I have witnessed citizens park their vehicles at the parking lots and walk to any of these transit/transport options.

The “quickest route” rule also applies here. If you are experiencing a lack of transfers between transit options it is because your citizens don’t feel that it is the quickest route to where they are going. Sometimes it takes a bit of time and experimenting to figure out how to effectively combine transit options. If it has to do with an agent/AI then the “quickest route” rule will always apply.
