i5-6600k or i7-6700k
Hey guys, I'm going to buy and build a PC but my questions was: Which CPU should I get if I play with too many assets and mods and DLC's?

RAM is more important for assets and mods than your CPU. The CPU tends to impact the number of cims you can have in your city before it gets slow rather than the number of assets.

How much RAM do you have?

I've got 16GB of ram

Then you should be able to handle a solid number of assets (i.e. 1000) with either of those CPUs.

That said, if you can swing the i7 I would expect that to perform better.

Thanks, but how many mods can I install? Because I want to use some mods aswell.

Start with the ones you like and add more until you notice a performance issue.

I have an i7 with 28gb of RAM and can run 60-80 mods with 2500 assets without any trouble.

Which i7,and what is your GPU?

I would definetly go with the i7. I've heard many users of i5 cpus suffer from a lot of stuttering in game. Plus, many games are starting to take advantage of more than 4 threads now, so an i7 CPU would last you a lot longer than an i5 CPU.

Btw, are you buying used parts? The i7 6700k isn't a recent cpu. If you're buying new, I would highly reccomend waiting for intel's new 8th generation CPUs to launch soon or go for kaby lake or AMD Ryzen.

I'm buying a new one but I have to wait until december, because I have to save some money.

And there is no diffrence between Kabylake and Skylake.

i7 definitely. This game uses 8-threads, so an i7 has 4 cores, and 4 hyper-threading cores for 8-threads total. The hyperthreads are weak, but should give yo a 20% boost or so.

But Ryzen has 6 and 8 core CPUs with hyperthreading for the same proce as i5 or o7 4 cores. This will give a little headroom for windows itself and mods that need extra resources.

I mean if the game is maxed out and using all 8-threads, then there are no more core for other tasks and make you stutter.

also, 16GB will go quick in the workshop. So be prepared for upgrading your RAM in the near future. That is if you continue with this game and the workshop.

neither get a ryzen

You really should probably wait to look at Intel's 8th generation of processors, especially since they'll have better single core performance and the i7 will have 2 extra cores (4 extra threads).

But the i7 is going to be expensive or not?

They range from $400 to $1,000 USD for 6, 8, and 10 core i7 processors.
