Medical clinic/hospital - One clinic covers whole city
Hello. I know that things like garbage collection, hospitals, crematoriums do not work well. I'm used to it that the closest medical clinic or hospital wont go for the patient 2 blocks away and that it will be served by clinic on the other side of my town. But what is really weird this time is this:
I have city about 45 000 people it is large city (large area used). City is divided into 3 parts. I have 3 hospitals and about 15 clinics (both vanilla and workshop). But what bothers me is problem which I've encoutered few days ago and I dont know how to fix it.
My first clinic which I built is the ONLY clinic which actually sends out ambulances. Even though when there is emergency call at the other side of MAP (about 4minutes of very fast driving) this one clinic send ambulances. It does not care that all of the 14 clinics are closer to that call. Can I fix it somehow? Clinics were placed normally using menu they are connected to common road.
In the past I'm 100% sure that I had more active clinics. I know that hospitals did not bother to send even single 1 ambulance even though they have like 30+ of them but at least all clinics were operating. Now (I could say from MT DLC) only one clinic is active.
Thank you for suggestions and ideas.

What problem are you having that you think you need lots of ambulances all over your map?

If you have no ambulances, then I would say that is a good thing. It just means you have healthy cims.

I would like to see more clinics or even hospital involved. At this moment only this one clinic sends out up to 7 ambulances. Yes I have healthy city (about 20 citizens treated per week from 45 000). But I would like to see some logic, there is no point to send ambulance which there will be after 4 minutes when game can send ambulance which will be there in 4 seconds.

The game is doing this on purpose to save on processing so you can have larger cities. It just send a minimal amount that it NEEDS only. From the sounds of it, you have way more hospital coverage than you need. You can probably cut it in half.

But your city is fine and you worry about nothing. Your goal in this game is eliminate traffic, not generate more needless traffic.

The range of most service buildings is ridiculous, it needs to be more realistic. A single hospital/fire should easily cover half the city, instead we are forced to put loads of service buildings that don't get used, just so the cims don't cry about it.

You seem to forget this a game and not a real $100,000+ city simulator which needs an equally expensive supercomputer to run it.

Each game has it's own set of rules you must learn to play by. This game wants a bunch of services in order to be successful. It's not a big deal once you learn this and things will flow smoothly once you adhere to the rules.

I just finished helping another user with a similar problem. He had a population of 250,000 and all-of-a-sudden all of his commerce went abandoned overnight. from not enough goods to sell. i.e. importing goods to his stores.

It turns out he installed some mods to bypass the rules. He slowly started adding one at a time to fix a problem with his city, then another to fix a different issues, until finally it collapsed under its own weight.

So, be careful adding mods to fix problems with your city. and and for goodness' sake, don't add a mod to fix an imaginary issue with your city. He doesn't report any problems in his city other than he thinks he needs more ambulances on the roads.

Remember, this is an agent (cims) based simulator, which means cims need to get to point A to point B in a TIMELY manner or bad things happen. The goal of this type of game is to get sims off the road, not try to have more on the road.

Well I dont need more ambulances in my city but I would like to see some balance. Instead of one working clinic with 8 ambulances why 4 clinics wont send two ambulances? :D As I said this game is all about pathfinding (everything in this game works like this: shortest route? - best route). It applies to all citizens when they want to go somewhere it applies to tourists when they come by ship, plane or train. It bothers me that house next to clinic is serviced by clinic from the other side of the map :D But no big deal I will have to get over it and take it as it is the game nature.
Anyway thanks for your comments.

@OP Lol, you only have 20 patients per week, this figure should be zero. When at zero, then you have a healthy city.

Actually cims travel the quickest route. It's usually the shortest route. but often the shortest route is longer in time.

Not that it matters, I just wanted to be clear.

But it would be nice if the game was more realistic, but I guess that's what mods are for. Just be aware of the side effects of using them.

@OP, good luck. I had a similar thread. Went nowhere fast.

@ams083, remember your post well and you were given all the info you needed to fix your problem. Expose your cims to any type of pollution you will require medical, keep pollution away and you wont need any medical at all.

Pretty simple hey.

Yeah it is not hard to have healthy city if you avoid water pollution and houses built on polluted ground. You will have mostly "too much noise patients" who live close to the metro or train. I like to keep all the areas covered (green roads) even though I do not really need clinic every 10 blocks because I dont need building upgrades because I plop the growables by hand.

I use buses in my residential (zero pollution) and send them to trains and metro in commerce. This is fairly efficient.

Although most of my cities only use buses and nothing else, except cargo trains in industry (for growth bonus and no train tracks connected) with moderate success (9-tiles and +300k pop and no workshop).

i have the same problem, and i think it's just stupid like the way it works, not very realistic.
and all the comments here are based on people thinking this should be it, then why do all my police station work, at least they all send out cars, not much but they do, but clinics are just bugged as they don't.

but anyway, this won't get fixed ever as most just accept it for what ever reason.
