Cars stopping randomly
I know this have been discussed some times bevore but neither here nor in external forums I could find a really sollution ...

I have many locations in my cities (mostly on highways) where the cars are stopping for no given reason . They just slow down, stop for a second and then continue to travel .... right in the middle of the highway with no ramps (on and off) or curves around ... nearly every car uses this method to sabotage my traffic which leads to massive traffic jams ...

Does someone have a solution for this problem or could imagine what's the problem?

Yes I use some mods, but even without any mods and in different cities I have this problem ... :/

Thanks for any ideas!

One cause not due to mods is that when you edit your road network you change the paths of currently active vehicles. The sim had to recalculate their paths at some points which can cause vehicles to pause. This should disappear with time as all paths are recalculated but if you, like me constantly tweak your network then there will always be some vehicles pausing somewhere on route while the new path is recalculated.

well, I deleted the traffic with traffic manager for some times after changing the roads and even if I don't work on roads for half an hour they still stopp ...

a car stopps somwhere at the highway and couses a traffic jam due to a full highway. after a second it contiues its way and the next car comes, stopps at exactly the same location for a second before the third one is on the turn ... and this again and again and again, for like I said, no given reason ...

I don't think that every car has to drive to this one spot to recalculate for a second before continuing ... do you? :o ;)

It would be nice to see a screenshot of one of the highways with the issue. You wrote that the traffic is “heavy” on the highway. When a vehicle stops on the road does it change lanes before continuing on its way? If no then have you tried to remove the piece of highway and pieces on either side and remake them to rule out broken nodes?
The only time I have seen this outside of a mod causing issues is heavy traffic and vehicles not having the room to lane change. They for reasons choose to lane change at that spot but the traffic in that lane they wish to change to has such heavy traffic that there is too little room “between” vehicles to change lanes. So they wait till they find a gap in traffic large enough to enter that lane or they wait till traffic is clear in that lane before entering.
Another possible issue causing this is your exit ramps. If they are too sharp of a turn they will slow the traffic trying to leave the highway. This I have noticed has an effect on the highway overall and sometimes it causes what I call confusion to the highway.

In this short video, is your traffic doing the same sort of thing?

Without see anything I'm guessing its a volume issue. Or it could be a mod issue.

no, they don't do the same thing ... they don't stop to change any lanes ...

http://images.akamai.steamusercontent.com/ugc/163654085050552769/309E66C7E0E2FF7E60AB29BAA1B073572A11CE46/
here you see the green truck stopping, while the hole street is free ... it didn't change the lane or try to park, it just stopped and then continued drive on the same lane ...

other example:

the grey jep just stopped ...

... and after a second continues his way, but now the garbage truck is waiting at the same position, the jep was before

Thank you for the screenshot. You don’t need to go through the trouble of posting your screenshot to third party site. When you upload to your profile they can be viewed easily by others as long as the profile is “public” as yours and mine are. Plus most often you can zoom in closer on the ones in the profile rather than other sites.

The traffic thing. To help rule out mod issue you say this happens to cities that you don’t use mods on? In what way did you do this? Did you shut down the mods and assets or did use a command like “—noWorkshop or –disableMods

Workshop (Assets / Mods)
Note: These options have a double hyphen at the start instead of a single hyphen, and also have an uppercase letter at the start of the second word.

Disable Workshop (Assets and Mods)
--noWorkshop

Disable Mods
--disableMods

The above is taken directly from the guide below
Under. Appendix A: Launch Parameters

The reason I ask because it could by an “asset” like vehicles from the Workshop causing an adverse effect. Do you remember when you think you noticed the issue? What Workshop items did you pick up before the issue.

I have no mods in the game and i have the same issue.

Ive sometimes had issues with nodes being too close. And traffic slowing down. Might be something worth checking.

I was thinking the same thing - nodes too close to each other. Deleting the short section of road between the two too-close nodes, plus an adjacent one, then rebuilding usually fixes it. But on your elevated section, nodes usually are at the pillars.

Have you tried deleting and rebuilding the road? I remember I experienced this (I don't use mod) messed up nodes where the cims drive in the middle of the lane, then turn to right lane, and shortly took a sharp turn to the very left lane for no absolute reason. I deleted and rebuilt the road and the problem solves itself.
