Bad graphics
Hello, I have got an issue.
When I play Cities Skylines (Full HD) the graphics from very close are kinda good but in the distance they are very bad, here I have got some examples:

Bad:

Good:

If you look in the distance of the 'bad' pictures you can see very bad graphics.
Map theme: Cedar Valley 4k
LUT: At these pictures evergreen but sometimes also sattelite
Mods: Around 30
Assets: Around 220

My pc stats:
Intel Core i5-7500 3,4 GHz
RAM: 8GB
GTX 1060 3GB
224 GB SSD
1 TB HDD

I also have very much lag when playing.
My questions are: What can I do about the bad graphics/how can I get better graphics/what can I do about the lag?

mods can cause lag because there are not opimised or not 100% compatible, interconvertible

the bad graphics aren't bad thats LOD (greater Distance less Detail, setting Render/View Distance or LOD)

you can activate Steam FPS Overlay to watch were the lag occurs

The lag could be the only 8GB i would upgrade to 16 or even 32GB and have the game on SSD (data loading, more cache,...)

When I am at the ground I have like 5 fps and when I zoom out around 13 fps.
I was already planning to upgrade to 16 GB but because the price of the memory is very high at the moment (was cheaper before) I haven't upgraded it yet.
Is there anything to make the LOD look less, because most of the youtbers have such nice graphics and I never see lag at them (While they say they have 10 fps), is it because of video editing?

I already have cities skylines on my SSD.

the price on Ram is rising and is higher than it was at release of skylake. the forcast are +40% in the next 1-2 years. So now or never
the game is CPU heavy so every program in background slows the game down.
Video editing are you insane thats like running Cinebench (CPU or GPU) and using lots of RAM
but if you only mean Video recording (streaming) than its 10-20% less performance

Well what I mean is why they do have such great graphics. I do know that a lot of the big CS youtubers play on 4k, but I also saw some that are playing on Full HD and their graphics are still much better then mine. So I thought maybe they edited the graphics a litte bit.
So why do they have such nice graphics?

And I am going to think about more RAM (Right now).

maybe the use graphic and texture mods like that https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XmDnkecibeo
and don't play on min settings, you should be able to play at mid to max setting for min 30fps

seems like you playing on minimal settings without AA

The links at that video don't work.
I deleted a lot of mods and all my assets.
The game runs a little bit smoother but I still have around 14fps when I zoom out and 7-8 when I am near the ground.
I don't really now what is causing this.

What do you mean with ''without AA''?

Edit: Right now I am building on an intersection and I have 4 fps!

Not enough ram. The map is 81 tiles big. With every graphic option way up to max, you need 16gb. If you have the means just crank it up to 32gb. Also, you should download a temp monitor and watch for cpu temps. Bench it, it should stay below 70 degrees or you don't even have to look no further.

Heat is no1 priority! Realise using that gtx card will heat up the case as well. Max the fans, make sure enough air is left to get to the cpu usually higher up in the case, the fan must be clear of dust, and the outtake fan should be at the back spewing hot air or you're not doing it right.

In my opinion, almost everyone burns through their cooling paste with this game sooner or later. It's a $1,50 paste between the cpu holder and the passive cooling block and fan, sealing it so no air can come between it. If your cpu ever been too warm, like 90 up to the devasting 105, you are looking at a paste renewal. Wich is scary to do yourself, but relatively easy. Judging this entire forum, 80% of performance issues are probably bad cooling.

But hey. Who is going to admit their beasts are being tackled by a $1 design feature. It's not like cmos batteries are a thing still, right? Right.

So I found out was was causing the lag.
The cable between my monitor and computer was connected to my motherboard, not to my GPU. Now I have 60-80 fps and when I get at ground lever around 40 fps.
Thanks for helping me and I am still thinking about 16 GB RAM!
