Pentium G4560 vs I57400
Hi people of The Cities,

I got a great configuration ready to build (with help from GoT!).
I'm only wondering about the last part, what will be the heart of pc.
And the question is, which one of these comb's is better for playing CS?

I'm thinking of 2 combinations.

1. Pentium G4560 and MSI Radeon RX 470 GAMING X 4G

or

2. I5 7400 and MSI Radeon RX 460 4G OC

Both comb's have a strong and a weak point.
Comb one is also cheaper but with better GPU and comb 2 is more expensive but with better CPU.
Could someone tell WHY one comb is better than the other? Or maybe what flaws the one has compared to the other?
For example the G4560 has hyperthreading which in many reviews seems to be a very good CPU for the money. But I still don't know why exactly?
On the other hand the I5 has 4 real cores but the RX 460 is less than the RX 470...
But how will that show in playing the game??

The build will have 16 GB RAm so that'll not be the bottleneck.

So, who dares ;-) ?
Who can give me some proper and well-founded advice?
Thnx 4 bothering anyway!!

Combo 1 is very weak. It has only a dual core with hyper-threading. The 470 is pretty powerful GPU, way above minimum specs or even recommended specs

Combo is much stronger with 4 full cores. The 460 is decent. It is above minimum and close to recommended specs.

Combo 2 is much better as most newer tittles are 4 core optimized. combo 1 is good for web based games and low end games.

You can always upgrade the gpu later if you need better graphics.

Do you know where I can compare both CPU´s because I read about the Pentium being maybe good enough for CS because of the HT? And the coasts are way lower than the I5?
I also read that the GPU is more important for playing CS than the CPU, is that right?

Hyperthreading adds maybe 20% or so increase to power. For this game though, you'll need as many cores as possible.

so adding two cores is 100% while adding htyperthreading is 20% on a good day. Some games will have almost no improvem, ent at all. But this game should get near 20% as it is so CPU intensive.

but i3's are way better than the pentiums and they are very lacking. However, you can easily fill a 9-tile map with the i3. Not sure on the pentiums as they just started adding HT to pentiums. but if you want to play with the workshop, you'll need i5 as workshop are add-ons to the game and you'll take a performance hit.

Best CPU benchmarks are passmark and cinebench. Just make sure you look at only the cpu scores and not the other scores.

Passmark score for i5-7400 = almost 7500 while the pentium is just over 5000, so the i5 is 50% more powerful.

i5-7400

Pentium G4560
http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu=Intel+Pentium+G4560+%40+3.50GHz

The single thread score for the i5 is 1948, while the Pentium is 2009. So hyperthreading is only helping a tiny amount. i.e. not even 1% increase.

But I would never recommend anything lower than an i5 for this game as it is CPU intensive. Lower will be playable, but you may be hindered. Not a big deal if you don't plan on high maps and high population (over 400k) and no workshop.

Thnx 'rmjohnson144' for your help!

I begin to understand how it works. So I'll go for the I5 although it's more expensive and for now, I've to buy a lesser GPU.
But with that and the 16 GB I think I can play a nice game and see if it's nessecary to maybe upgrade the GPU next year! ;-)

Thnx a lot!!
