bigger map/bigger city limits???

Are there larger map sizes or are they all one size? I know that the city limits can be expanded by annexing (purchasing land) but it seems to me the limit/box size is rather paltry small, can't it be made bigger?

The land squares cannot be expanded, only purchased. If you want bigger cities than 9 tiles, get mods that allow you to do so.

I know there's all kinds of mods and I'm quite capable of searching for them and appreciate you letting me know that there are such mods and can you tell me what it is I am looking for? Maps? Or some other kind of mod that gives me more than 9 tiles?

I recommend any of the 25-tile unlock mods. Once you unlock the tiles you can safely unsubscribe to them and the tiles will stay unlocked.

The 81-tile mod is always required even after you unlock them all and has issues of its own.

not sure I quite understand so I'll reiterate: are you saying that I need the 81 tile mod to use the 25 tile unlock mods?

No. Once you unlock the 25-tiles on a map, you can unsubscribe the 25-tile mod and still play the unlocked tiles, whereas to use the 81 tiles, you have to always have the 81-tile mod subscribed. The 25-tile mods are "safer" so to speak.

Keep in mind the game was never designed for 25 tiles, let alone 81. You're going to run into strange AI behaviour as well as the engine limits preventing you from building things at some point.

They're more for allowing less square cities - You can buy tiles whereever and build more snakelike and organic.
