RAM usage help (Loading screen Mod)
So last night on Loading screen mod it started showing RAM usage as read at 8GB.

I have 16GB of RAM in my PC. Is there a default amount the game uses and can I increase this amount? If so, how?

Thanks

More thinking I don't like the red warning message showing high ram usage when I have 16GB.

It's really quite simple. 16GB is sufficient for up to around 800 unpacked assets, so just count your assets and keep them below 800 in number.

There is no default amount. It depends on how much of the workshop you use. It also depends on the map. Some maps seem to use around 2.5GB while others can use around 4.5GB.

Remember, eaxch workshop items is an external add-on to the game and increases RAM, GPU, and CPU usage.

Showing around 400 But wanted to add a few more in. Was hoping not to upgrade my PC before I bought a new one.

Might look at getting a further 4GB

If you have a 16gb stick of memory I wouldnt put a 4 gb memory stick. keep them all same numbers. If you have two slots, put like two 8gb to get 16gb. If you want more ram, get only two sticks of 16gb to get 32gb memory or 4x 8gb to get 32gb of memory, if 4 slots are available.

I have 16gb of memory around ~500 assets and mods. Loading Screen shows almost 10gb, I have no issues at all. I stay away from getting crazy with assets.

What is telling you that you have high memory usage?

What is your current rig specs? Are you sure you need a new one? Maybe curb your workshop addiction first. lol Just make sure you are actually using stuff you subscribe to. I see too many people subscribing to anything that looks nice and soon run into troubles.

The Loading Screen Mod shows the Memory usage is high.

PC was built in 2013, had to replace my GPU few yeas back to a Nvidia GTX 970 as my old one broke. 2 X 8GB RAM. i7-4770 CPU. Windows 10

When did RAM get so expensive. Just checked cost of another 8GB strip and it's trippled in price sinse the last strip I bought

because they don't make ddr3 anymore. It is now all ddr4 memory.

Try ebay. They have good prices.

But if loading screen mod is saying it is high, with only 8gb usage, it sounds like just a warning than anything.

What does task manager report?

But the rest of your rig is way over specs for this game.

btw, how do you break a gpu?

I have no idea how it broke. just kept crashing games and the PC

you need minimum 24gb RAM and better if you have DDR4
Tammo May 30, 2017 @ 11:38pm
I run about 1600 assets and 45 mods. Recently upgraded from 16 GB to 32 because the game ran at 95% of ram usage. Your specs seem fine, so eighter lose some assets or upgrade your ram. If you have 4 slots it shouldn´t cost you more than € 125 (or $ 150 in colonial money) for 2x8 GB DDR3. If possible, try to match the new ram to your old ones. If you only have 2 slots, it will get more expensive.

I have i7, GTX 1070, 32GB RAM (DDR 3) & SSD. I have around 5700 assets and ~60 Mods.. Every time i load my cities i´ve got red numbers :D The loading time with this assets/mods is around 6.30 Min.

You can increase your Swap-File to the double amount of your ram or buy an SSD. If your swap file is on the ssd, the loading is faster :)
