Use the transport overlay and that will make all underground roads visible and clickable for the purposes of bulldozing them. Just adjust your camera angle and zoom for a better view.

Until the recent upgrade, it was entirely possible to delete underground roads as well as those upon the surface. Now, somebody irresponsible of development has suddenly decided to force the view to surface if you select the bulldozer while in roadview. That's a very effective way to make the interface much more cumbersome and exasperating, and if it's an ambition to make the game more user-hostile, they've certainly succeeded.

Now, I can understand such a slip may happen, but I do hope that the old feature will be restored asap.

V is the hotkey for underground demolition.

I don't think it's said anywhere other than the controls menu, but I guess it's next to the bulldoze hotkey so it sort of makes sense.

By the way, this downgrade is related to another one from earlier. When the game came out, connecting an underground highway to another underground road of any kind worked logically and normally. At one point, they changed this, so that the game, even when you connect two underground roads, does its damned best to force the on-ramp or whatever onto the surface in between.

That's a clumsy enough change of functionality in itself, but taken with this new hopeless removal of possibility, the two problems add to each other exponentially.

Now, when the game harasses me by making these ridiculous peep-above-ground on-ramps, I have to delete them and find some way to make it in gradual steps in the hope of getting things to work. And do delete them, I have to go underground. And so I have to switch to info-view to delete, then back to build mode to try doing things in a way that gets around the game's dysfunctionality. Repeat until luck. A massive amount of clumsy and totally superfluous steps to do something that should be smooth and easy.

I would really like, in case you haven't guessed already, that they'd stop taking away functionality in this way and treat me like a baby who doesn't know as well what I'd like to do as a piece of softwar.

Bless your observant heart! I was going nuts demolishing everything above and around that little bit of road but the "V" key does the trick perfectly without any hassle.

I assume they did this to free up the overlays. When you click on a menu, it chooses an overlay automatically. But sometimes you need a different overlay view and I like to think they are advancing the game for a better UI and allow us to use each overlay for any menu some day, like SC2013 does.

I know the Cities: Skylines - Windows 10 Edition is trying to do this as well.
