no matter my level I can't reach Graveston
I'm sure there's some mechanic I don't understand but I've done everything in my power to the point I can't see how to continue. Is there any way to actually get to Graveston or it just not accessible?

Since no one had the decency to respond, I'll share the answer which I had to discover on my own. You have to bring the 8 pieces of silver to the fort as requested and you get an item in return which allows you to survive the ghost fights. I don't know if the game is actually coded to stop you from passing the ghosts if you don't have that item, but I was never able to come close even at level 40+ with multiple legendaries in my crew and food/scroll buffs. In order to get silver you have to bring 4 - not any less - armour suits (which you can obtain at the same fort you have to drop the silver off at) to a merchant hidden to the left of the screen in Silvermineham to the Northwest. Once you give him these items...nothing happens. You have to wait until the next "day" for the silver to pop up in his stock. For added "fun" this silver will then disappear the next day. SO you have to carefully plot a route around nearby towns to end up back there for the next business day and snatch the silver to bring to the fort. Don't listen to peeps who say you can find silver elsewhere, it's nonsense. I've never seen silver anywhere else in the first map area or the snowy area. If you make a mistake and don't get back in time to collect the silver you'll have to bring another 4 sets of armour and go through the process again. Once you return to the fort with your silver (I forget the exact name of it but it's in the Northeast and it's the last town before going on to Graveton) then you will automatically get your reward. No other buffs will help you in the least. A simple tutorial bubble could have explained the basics of this to the player in 5 seconds but instead we have to figure it out through trial and error. It's a really good game with a lot of well paced out content but boy, there are some shortcomings and the completely blind playthrough is definitely one of them.
If I remember correctly, the guard on Fortsville says something about that magic anti-ghost chalice. Here's the dialog:

Are you planning to go east?
I've just been thinking about it.

Then I recommend you find some silver. Our blacksmith can forge a chalice that will help you on your journey.
Help with what?

Help you fight ghosts. You'll have to fight regardless, but it'll make things a little easier.
Keep listening

I had a similar chalice, but on my last expedition we encountered a huge skeleton. We had to run, and I lost it. Ah, silver's very hard to come by these days.
Not for me! Thanks for the advice.
