(I've totally completed the requirements for the $2mil achievement, have a screenshot as proof, but still no achievement. I deleted the registry files to clear any residual data and validated game file integrity but still not getting the achievment.)
Ta for the PSA, it's good to use as a checklist.
For anyone else reading this having troubles, use the checklist above, and this is my trial and error/variables report:
Cleared office before every playthrough to make sure there was nothing in the trunk interferring and nothing in the office possibly interferring. Double checked trunk was empty before starting each time. Got 22 pieces, didn't move trunk once, double counted the money and screencapped it where all 22 can clearly be counted (just to be sure I wasn't going mad). Was still getting the message at end of every session that I had all the money.
One playthrough I left the trunk lid open, another I closed the lid, and two more with the briefcase with trunk lid closed and open.
Tried all of the above with a clean temple and a messy one. Used the little meter thingo to check there was no mess left and each time I was getting 100% clean anyway.
Was honestly about to try an uninstall/reinstall when I went through and cleaned up everything except all the USBs and cleaning tools and it popped. That's really the only thing I did differently -
leaving all the non-viscera/weapons/casings.
I'm definitely at the point where I'm quite certain this achievement is extremely buggy. I've seen people saying they collected 1.8 mil on one run and 1.8 on another and it popped. I've got over 6 hours now, 4.5 were just trying to make this achievment pop. I feel like it more a case of tricking the game into allowing us to have the achievement.
Thank you for the chekclist though, it was immensely helpful to have a clear & concise set of directions.
My goal with this checklist is to kill just as many variables as possible between success and failure.
It seems that completely cleaning the pagoda is part of the requirement here. If I understand you right, you didn't get the achievement until you'd cleaned everything and collected the money, which jives with what happened when I got it (at no point when I played did I not clean everything to the best of my ability, and the run where I got the achievement scored 99%).
Despite this, there's a few screenshots I've seen where people have gotten this achievement doing no cleaning whatsoever, so I can't be certain if that's part of the achievement's triggers or not.
Thank you for the update info.
I definitely have that update (I bought the game 9 days after the update was released) so I guess I'm one of the "rare cases where it doesn't work normally" and could maybe have used the 'RetryAchievementUnlocks' console command to reset it. I figured I didn't have to clean the level at all or thoroughly as I'd seen a number of screencaps and videos of people collecting the achievement with an untouched level.
'Shadow Warrior:
Decreased Speedrun par-time for Shadow Warrior by 10%.
Made it possible to get "Mr. Two Million Dollars" achievement without cleaning the level.
Added "RetryAchievementUnlocks" console command for retriggering "Mr. Two Million Dollars" check. For use in rare cases where it doesn't work normally.
Fixed trigger in doorway accepting collision hits from the player's Mop.'
I love that so long after releasing VCD they are still looking after it and after us.
For what it's worth, I think the achievement bugs frustrate the 3 devs as much as they frustrate players. If RuneStorm was a huge studio with dozens of programmers then.... they'd probably still have achievement bugs. *cough* Dishonored *cough* lol
I'm really impressd with the effort and time so many little devs put into their games. It's almost as though they make games because they have a passion for making games rather than a passion for being the biggest, richest company on earth
Excuse me now, I'm off to clean up some guts.
I tried to just collect money and clock out at first but nothing happened. So I collected all 22 pieces and locked them in that big box and then just cleaned the place. As suggested here I only didn't turn in these USB devices and I ended up with 98%lvl completion and both achievements.
I reloaded the save to check if something happens after turning them in but only progress jumped to 99%
1. Start new game
2. Press ~ button (above tab)
3. Write "setbind mousescrollup killnearestmess"
4. Without " " marks of course
5. Scroll up for few seconds (look around as the mess is cleaning itself)
6. For me only one piece of cash was left on the map - 50000 near incinerator, I put it in the box and left game through terminal at beggining of the level. You need to collect your remaining cash probably.
7. I ended with 2000000 and 95% of cleaning which granted me achievement.
