Game won't start

I just installed it and the game won't even boot up. All my hardware and software's up to date so I know that's not the problem.

A full screen black window pops up then disappears after a couple of seconds.

Any thoughts or solutions?

I´ve got the same problem. But I was able to play it 47hrs before the same ♥♥♥♥ like u´ve described happened... -.-

I just downloaded last night and have the same exact problem. I dont know a solution yet. All my other games play just fine.

I even tried these steps that they suggest https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=6363-IAFB-4592. I still cant get it to work. I'm starting to get pissed off haha

this game has worked three times in the month i had it. Getting really pissed off.

Steam needs to put a warning with all 2k games that says. I learned my lesson with 2k games back in 2010 and have avoided them sense. I stop in here to throw out warnings when ever I get a chance.

2k only really supports the console versions. The pc versions are always buggy and missing features the console versions have. They rarely fix game breaking bugs in the pc versions. They will fix it in the console versions because they are required to but it takes an act of God for them to convert that patch to the pc. They just released a HUGE patch for console versions but made no mention of a pc patch. Don't expect it for pc.

don't expect much help from 2k support this is what they sent me when I started a help ticket "Looking at your DxDiag I see the following: Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2400 CPU @ 3.10GHz (4 CPUs), ~3.3GH, you need Pentium 4 2.4 Ghz Single Core processor or equivalent (2.8 Ghz for Vista/Win 7/Win 8), as you can see you computer is not fast enough for this game." How the hell is 3.10GHz not equivalent to 2.8 GHz?

Same - this sucks. Can't even get it to a start screen. Just does nothing.

This is day two of trying to fix this stupid problem. I would guess I've tried everything twice to find a solution. It's obviously just this game cause every other game I have works with no problems. There is one thing I haven't tried and that is hitting my computer with a hammer!

Update I hit my tower with a hammer and still I get the black screen pop up. Then nothing

Found a solution:
1. search on ur computer NBA2k14.exe (the one in ur steamapps folder)
2. right click and click on "troubleshoot compatibility"
3. Then click on "troubleshoot program"
4. check the "I don´t see my problem listed"
5. click on Windows XP when it asks which version of windows the program worked before
6. Test it out and save the settings
Hope it helps. Got the solution out of another community discussion :D

I'm anxious to try this. It ran perfectly the first few times I ran it, and I was having fun with this game. I have tried all the usual fixes to no avail. I'm now waiting on the third(!) install of this game to complete.

This fix worked perfect for the "stuck on Lebron" start screen dilemma
