How to self alley oop?

I already searched on how to do it, but when I try to do it my character goes for a dunk.

I think you just do it with the same buttons as a normal alley oop but make sure you have some space between you and the basket(like do the combo at the free throw line while driving in) and make sure you have no teamates anywhere near you like on a fastbreak or something. I've done that and it usually works but sometimes he just dunks it or throws it away..
