my creature was able to block with summoning sickness why is that.

^ title. im trying to figure out these rules but nothings really making sense right now.

why am i able to play land and cast before and after the combat phase @__@ whats the point of having phases then.

Storm - you want to play lands first; unless you have a 1 removal and toss it in at the end phase to scare your enemy - the end phase is to place a creature incase you did not in the main phase to perhaps.... utilize abilities it has such as (if X creature attacked this turn thsi creature gets X ability)

most creatures have summoning sickness(SS) until the beginning of your next turn, haste is an ability that nulifies sickness. during SS a creature cannot attack or tap. It can block and use abilities that dont require it to be tapped. As for having 2 main phases this allows many different strategies. Sometimes not showing which cards you will play until after attacking can cause a desired reaction or vise versa. You will quickly see how manageing phases can keep others guessing and off balance. Maybe they block with a creature thinking you dont have mana to play another spell, but on the second main phase u play mana and cast a spell to finish off that creature.
