I am getting really tired of being mana starved.
I have done all I could do, I even flooded my deck with lands to being far over the 1/3rd suggested, and I am still mana screwed more than half the time. Also, don't be a smartalex and say that "this is just normal", going by the laws of probability, IT IS NOT NORMAL after playing six (Update, eight now with ONE of the new ones being screwed mana wise from starvation, making the total out of eight games, five being completely messed up by drawing normally. ) games and I am mana screwed in four of them.

Please WotC, since you skimped out on producing the FULL legal sets of cards, any planeswalkers at all, just cards of the current year and not earlier and many more...could you at least do your job and make it so we aren't so mana screwed quite often!!

If you produce a product, make sure it works first and STOP being an "EA" games clone, you should be better than that.

Sample of eight games does not give you any realistic sample. That is like saying flipping a coin is screwed because you get tail 5 times ouf of 8.

While I'm more chill about the issue, I've been having the same problem. It usually comes down to me being either mana starved or mana flooded probably about 6-7/10 times. I usually get the same result if I mulligan. It doesn't really bother me, I just restart the match. I'm more concerned about green seeming to lack the ability to get lands on the field as fast as im used to, but I digress. It seems quite a few people are having this same problem about being mana flooded/starved, so it may be a real issue, or it may just be some people having bad luck. And also, in the ~5 hours I've played I've only gone first in a match 2 times. I'm going to say its just bad luck on my part.

In all fairness, it is normal for it to happen. Your luck will even be worse the higher the difficulty is you play on.

I think the fault might be in the user. How many lands you play in your deck? You might give more details before talking about samples. Because deck with 60 lands will always flood.

Also if you play against computer on planeswalker difficulty you will get mana screwed because RNG is against you.

...it was more games than just that, but I started really being annoyed to keep track after a while.

I played the game both in high school and even the OTHER Magic games such as the 1990's much better Magic the Gathering game...yet there it isn't as bad, not by a longshot. Speaking of the 1990's Magic game, I really wish they would do it like THAT again to be honest, to have something other than just dueling if you chose to.

I just said it isn't though. I read of countless others making the same complaint and yes, before anyone pipes back about how those without a problem wouldn't write or even read this one, I also need to throw right back that in protest, it is usually 1 out of a 100 that do care enough to protest and decided to join the rally. So basically, if a hundred people go to a rally for protest, a thousand truly care about the issue.

I put 25 lands in a 60 card deck...then I moved it up to half at 30....way too many according to the experts on a deck that doesn't need the mana that much to warrant having six available. For instance, my deck can do roughly 85% of the spells at three mana...yet I am overly starved to get to there or overly flooded that I don't have a thing for the mana to go on.

Said this already and no....I did both research, have actual playing time with cards long ago and I will just end there...just no.

Actually, thank you for this comment. I will lower down the difficulty just to help out more though but I don't think it matters much on multiplayer though? Will the setting affect land draws even while playing on the 'forced for cards' games?

Well, I was playing paper last night, took a 1-lander in one game and proceeded to draw no land for the rest of the game (in a 23 land deck) in about a dozen draws. ♥♥♥♥ happens.

Funny story, I just spent the past 2 hours trying to beat Search the City, which seems like it would be one of the easiest stages to beat with my kind of deck, but I kept on either getting mana flooded or mana starved even after numerous mulligans, then finally after roughly 1 hour 45min I finally got something I could work with and beat it. The struggle is real.
Knifey (Shooty) Jul 29, 2014 @ 1:34pm
Bud so you want the game to cheat for you and make mana appear more regularly instead of having a truely randomized deck? It's a valid POV since it is a computer game, but i'm just checking this is what you want.

Yeah, those are possible but what I am getting at is not a game like ...

...which are way too often to be even be coincidental.

No, more fair is all that the community, including myself, is asking for honestly. Sure, I want Slivers and when they do come, they better have Gemhide Sliver to make it work BUT I can live with even fairness to be honest. I am not even complaining on the computer having cards that we flat out do not have even although that is annoying too but more of just random fairness is all that I am stressing.

Difficulty selection should have no influence on getting a better or worse luck of draw. If you add parameters to a random draw, it pretty much stops being a random draw.

Yes, a deck with 60 lands will definitely always flood you with lands, especially if u play a 60 card deck xD

I didn't so much as said that, but my lands even at it's most with this problem is still between 20 and NOW 30 to avoid the mana starvation. But I try to have between 18-24 lands in a deck of 60 cards.

^ I think that's your problem right there. Seriously, if you don't know what you're doing with your manabase, stick with 24 lands.

What the hell are you talking about? Did you even read anything on this post instead of just jumping in...I have tried almost all the way up to 29 lands just to try this out once and that is way too many. The experts from long ago when I first started in card shops and magazine based said that your deck should be:
1/3rd land
1/3rd creatures
and 1/3rd other such as enchantments, artifacts, direct damage and the like.

Sure it is tweaked a bit for this deck or that deck, but the 1/3rd is a main rule and at the professional standing, it doesn't change much so why the hell should it change here?

I blame the game over my deck building...I have in the past crafted magic decks just fine and thanks for talking down like I am mentally disabled...it was rather offensive.

^ Magic theory has come a loooong way since those days. You've got some catching up to do.
Bing Chilling Jul 29, 2014 @ 6:18pm
If you get mana screwed in this game it's your own fault. They included travelers amulet if you aren't in green. Also 1/3 is too low. 22-ish lands in an agro deck and 24 in others is the norm for tier 1 decks. Also learn to mulligan more. 1 mana and single color hands are usually bad to keep.
