We are trying to figure this out.
The main issue is trying to find what works for both the Intel chip versions of Mac and the M-chip versions without any problems.
It is a tough process trying to get one version that plays nice on both.

Thank you for your answer. I hope the problem can be resolved soon. Good luck!

FYI, I don't have any logs or bug reports to send, but Steam registers the game as running while the laptop is trying to get it running. I clocked 19 mins w/o being able to play the game. This is the least info I can give, maybe it helps.

Not sure if that will help, but anything is better than nothing when trying to figure out an issue. I'll pass that on. Thanks!

The laptop also doesn't run Treasure of Nadia.

I am having a similar experience but not with a Mac. I have a cyberpower gamer. I have over 20 minutes of playing shown even though I have not gotten past the first 10 seconds.

It has been several days . I have looked online and in the community for a solution. Nothing has worked. The only thing I have not done is delete Steam ENTIRELY and reload it. I am not willing to jeopardize losing all my games though.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

thanks OrangeSloth, i'll try this. i reinstalled and tried yesterday again but didn't work. maybe your advice will work.
the game file name for me is very weird. it is only: the game. and there is a house on a lawn as the game thumbnail image.
no mention of the genesis order

OrangeSloth's solution works also for Treasure of Nadia, even though I am running a 64 bit system (13.6) on mac and the game is 32 bit. Achievements don't work but i don't care about that.

I had the same issue. Crashing at startup... This might help people. If you have anything that manipulates the Windows GUI/OS (in my case, Stardock Windowblinds) try to stop/unload it. This is what fixed the issue for me after a couple hours of trouble-shooting by trying so many other things listed here and elsewhere.
