10 Hour Tutorial, My Thoughts:
10 Hour Tutorial, My Thoughts:

From start to finish you are prompted every second of the way by several means. Dev's have made sure you have no need to seek outside sources in which to learn how to play provided you keep your eyes open and ears primed.

There are 3 distinct tutorial sources as follows ...

1. Baldur; Story npc who guides you on what to do next although does nothing himself to assist the village.(I hope this changes).

2. The village notice board with pinned notes on how to play and what to do giving you (the player) to read it or not which is both optional and immersive. (Keep this as an option)

3. Sequential Questing; You must follow each quest in sequence in order to unlock the next construct and recruit villages. You can ofc build them in whatever order you wish as long all constructs required are completed, in which case the quest will advance.

The Apothecary Should be unlocked ealier in the game as it is essential to maintain villages health and immunity. In this case, I place the Apothecary before the Weaver. (healthy villages wear clothes, Dead villages do not).

Also, remove the requirement to "Find The Bandit Camp" until the village is completed via the tutorial. While constructing your village there is little time in which to explore the map although the huge Blue Icon reveals exactly where the Bandit Camp is located and as the next step is to kill the 3 bandits occupying the camp, the whole senario is pointless and counter productive to village progress.

It would more preferable to have surprise attacks by bandits giving the player reason to seek them out (No Huge Blue Icon to Say "Here WE Are Come Get Some!").

Plague Managment;
Due to an amazing update, managing plague has become a lot less punishing (Only 4 of my villages died of this deasese throughout the whole 10 hours) 2 more villages died to bandit attacks (more probably would have had I not been there to defend them as it fist against sword) But I degress, The plague meter nearly fills while you are stuck within the burning animation allowing little tile to escape. In my case however, I was right on the edge of contracting the plague due to slow reflexes (medical issue) But it was doable and I managed to avoid it.

In summary, this game is a real cracker (one out of box) and comparing it to other games of like is doing it a disservice. The game to me is in a niche of it's own. I would go as far as to say it is own gen're and a milestone in game development.

Why? you may ask, Survival is done Right. Survival is not manageable it is Enjoyable.

1. There is Reason to Eat, Drink and maintian Hygiene and Temperature.

2. Everything has purpose (even the mundane tasks have a clear and pricise goal) Nothing is wasted. Hoarding is nessecary.

3. Exploration at your own pace. When you need to sleep, pop down a tent (anywhere) and camp fire) rest for 3/6 0r 9 hours at your choosing. There is no rush to be anywhere once you village is self sufficient in which case you jobe is to keep it that way via exploring and returning with needed supplies.

In closing I commend the developers on this title. The Love, Thought and Effort put into this masterpiece is to be admired and if this Alpha has any rlection upon the finished product, I hope I'm still alive to play it.
