Activation key error

I played this years ago but now when I try to launch the game I get some sort of error with the activation key:

Unable to run the application due to integrity fault of the Activation Key. Re-enter a valid Activation Key or re-activate the application.
If the error recurs, click "Error report" and send the report to product technical support.

Me too. I hadn't played it for year. Now I've reinstalled it and have to activate it again. I get nothing but errors. No support. Their email address gives an automated reply. A reply that is absolutely no help at all.

So, because all the links and email addresses given for registration and/or support, are useless. I followed Cyanide Studios on twitter and messaged them. I explained the problem and got a reply this morning.

Cyanide Studios say:

"Hello,

We are sorry for this problem which comes from the version of the game available on Steam, we will try to fix it as soon as possible."


Now, if you consider the fact that this obvious bug has been sitting there for literally years.
Then what time scale is "AS SOON AS POSSIBLE" with @CyanideStudios?

I suggest everyone DMs them on Twitter and let them see the magnitude of this problem.
I'm tired of big gaming software companies that are happy to take your money but deny any responsibility for their products.

So can you confirm 2017 still works? if i buy that i should have no issues?
