Extremely low FPS on 4090 + 7800X3D
Having a huge problem with the frame rate on this game, it will run at the max fps (whether its 30, 60, or 120) and then plummet down to like 1-9fps. If i pause and unpause the game it will go back to max fps for like a second then go back to 1-9 fps

Imagine calling 60fps low. The human eye sees at around 60 fps, anything more than that is pointless.
Imagine paying a lot of money for a gpu and a simple game that’s not demanding doesn’t use its full potential… If we wanted to play low fps we would buy a console…
The game was made to run at 60 fps and again, our eyes can't perceive a noticeable difference beyond 60-80ish making 120+ just pointless. Plus it'll just burn your gpu out faster. Running this maxed out at 2560x1440p at 150% resolution and it barely makes my fan kick on at 60.

Hey guys I changed to 120fps after passing the very beginning as soon as I was able to access the menu and it’s working just fine. Maybe the memory leak is only at the beginning…

Bad argument when even today the mass majority of console games can't run stable 30fps on quality let alone 60 fps with their mid level graphics settings on performance. So solid 60/ultra/4K is still very good and is a long way off for console games.

What is your resolution scaling at? i set mine to be 125 and it tanked my performace, but when i set it 100, it is running at an even 300 most of the time. I have almost exactly the same parts as you with a 4090 and 7800x3d so it might help you, tho idk what resolution you are running at

Yeah, scaled to 100. Tried messing with all the settings and nothing works.

I think I found the issue (at least for me), it's the resolution. The game itself physically cannot run at 4K, unless you set the frame rate cap to 30 or 60.
Set to 4K and 120FPS or Unlocked, the game completely loses it.

I start a new game and run around in the initial area where you're picking your difficulty.
Keep in mind I am running an RTX 4090 and 7800X3D:

(Frame rate cap is unlocked for all of these)

4K max settings: 1-10 FPS
4K low settings; 1-10 FPS
4K max settings (scaling set to 50%, effectively making it 1440p): 1-10 FPS

1440p max settings: 240+ FPS
1440p low settings: 240+ FPS
1440p max settings (scaling set to 200%, effectively making it 4K): 1-10FPS

1080p max settings: 240+ FPS
1080p low settings: 240+ FPS
1080p max settings (scaling set to 200%): 240+ FPS

When setting the frame rate cap to 30 or 60, the frame rate becomes rock solid. Whether running at 4K, 1440, 1080p, max or low settings, scaling 50%, 100%, or 200%. The frame rate will stay solid.

I think it's just a case of a HORRIBLY optimized PC port, as with most of Square Enix's games. This game was made from the ground up to be played on a PlayStation 4 at 1080p 30FPS, never at any time did the devs think these games would or could be played anywhere else at anything higher than that resolution or frame rate.

They should have just released all the KH games with a 60FPS cap and be done with it (Or, you know, make a proper PC port)

Goes to show that SE only wanted to port this to Steam for the sake of porting it and then moving on/not caring enough to want to fix the legit issues many people have. We need to be way more vocal, spread the word on social media ad infinitum.

You're making crap up and you sound dumb. The human eye does not see around 60fps, and more is not pointless. It's not about counting frames. Higher frame rates = lower frame times, and looks/feels smoother. That's an objective fact.

I hope you're trolling but sadly people really are this dumb. 60fps is only 30fps away from Gsyncs minimum effective window. And why do you think 120hz ...144hz...240hz etc screens exist?? I mean please think before you brain fart your verbal diarrhoea.

Absolutely everything you say on this topic is incorrect. 100% false. Stop.

Bro thinks his GPU can only render a finite number of frames before it dies, and running at 60fps is effectively doubling the life of it. :ccff7r_cait_sith:

No, running it at 100% all the time will burn it out faster.

PC parts last longer if they aren't constantly running hot. I've probably been using computers longer than you've been alive. Pipe down, squirt.

Not really especially if you do proper maintenance, there are multiple studies and proof that even cards used to mine crypto are fine and run the same as a brand new card, holy hell not everyone pisses and dust clogs their gpu you console kid next youre gonna tell me you put your PlayStation on the carpet

No, I keep it under 3 comforters and sit on it when I play to keep my buns warm

So it’s been nearly 10 months since this post and STILL this persists. My 4090 and 7800x3d drops to single digit fps for no apparent reason. Shame. Was really hoping by waiting this would have been addressed by the studio/publisher. Guess it’s a locked 60fps for me
