Do I even need to play this?

Since this only has Dream Drop Distance playable, is there a real reason to play this? Or can I just play the 1st compilation and the go straight to KH3?

What's the difference? Personally if I see a game that says "FINAL MIX" that means to me it's the last version, the best one, so why is the one in this compilation even necessary? I'll never understand the dumb names they use for these games...

Firstly, DDD is required to play before KH3, a LOT happens in that game
Secondly, yes the name is ridiculous, but BBS Final Mix and BBS 0.2 are NOT different versions of the same game, they're completely different and you need to play both
Finally, while you can watch this on YT, 2.8 also includes the Back Cover movie which introduces several characters that reappear in KH3 and will be very important in future games

0.2 is like an epilogue to birth by sleep, it is not the same game.

Because final mix is an updated version of bbs, the same way final mix of 1 & 2 are updated versions of those games.

I would argue that DDD is 100% worth it. It's cheaper to get a copy for the ds 2nd hand, but if you can't- get this package. The film is incredible, the story is insane, it's worth it.

DDD makes almost no difference to the story. If you get the secret ending in BBS you already know what you need to know

DDD is crucial character development for the second main character in the series, catches Sora up to speed with prior games, sets up a major ability that gets used over and over again in 3, and reveals what the main villain's plan actually is before 3 starts.
