Really bad FPS
I was wondering if there was a unoffical fix to the problem where KH 1.5/2.5 and 2.8 before even getting to the game move at like 10fps and the sound at 30fps. The game itself is just as bad and KH3 is running fine from what I could tell.

Before anyone says get a better pc my specs include a RTX 4070, i7 processor and 16gb ram so I think I am more then capable of running a game from 20+ years ago.

Its just funny how a game could run so bad.......

It is the same issue like it was in the epic games version. Just turn off Vsync.

Yeah like above poster said you'll definitely want to disable Vsync in the game options. Also uncap the framerate and enable Gsync in the nvidia control panel if your monitor supports it (if not, cap the fps to your monitor refresh rate with Nvidia or another 3rd party software). No idea why Vsync is so utterly broken with these games lol

It doesn't let you change the resolution in the game options? You might need to adjust your desktop resolution if you don't see any options higher than 720p

Same. I tested the games on the OG steam deck and my desktop and everything on deck has been a smooth 60 and on my desktop 120+.

I have similar specs to you and the game runs great for me. I did disable vsync though, so maybe it would have problems if I re-enabled it?

Here the solution: Go to windows -> display -> graphics -> search up all game exes in the kingdom hearts game folder (path found under steam) -> press on options -> high performance.

I had 21 fps now im on 990 fps while cutscenes are locked at 30 fps. make sure to disable synch and fps lock in game too.

90% sure they are emulated.. it's an emulation issue

Thank you so much for this fix, i know this thread is 2 months old but this helped me actually make KH2 playable..

I had this issue once. For me, it was trying to run another program at the same time. If you run anything that utilizes the GPU, it'll cause Kingdom Hearts to lag, I think because it's layered. What I mean is, you have a double-instance (not two separate instances) of Kingdom Hearts going at all times, the game selection launcher and the game you launch on top of each other. This ramps up GPU and CPU drain. It's also bad with anything running in Shell or DOS, especially other games, even emulated ones.

May or may not be your issue, but I know a lot of people multi-run programs, and this game's launch sequences hinder that. Hope that helps... someone, anyway lol.
