I've only ever experienced motion sickness with Resident Evil 7 on VR. Combination of frame rates and first person view.
1 and BBS are zoomed in, while the rest are zoomed out and farther away from the character.
There will probably be a mod if there isnt one already that makes 1 and BBS camera placement more like the later games.
From what I could read and from what I was told there are times that the implementation of 60 fps, or more, is not well done when porting a game to PC, being those 60 fps not real even if it shows them as stable. The explanation is a bit more complex but I don't remember it right now. The point is that if you see that no solution works for you, try limiting the fps to 30 and see if it works for you. Just in case. :)
I have to assume the reason it's so zoomed in is because 1 was their first time making an action game, so they didn't know.
And BBS was notoriously so strapped for resources on the PSP that they needed it that zoomed in to make sure the game even ran. Remember, they were all supposed to have capes on the entire time, but they couldn't get the cloth physics running without dropping to like 10 FPS.
By reducing the FPS from 120 to 60 the motion sickness is reduced, at 30 it almost disappears
For "rotation camera" I selected Manual
For "refresh rate" I selected No
I also think about doing shorter gaming sessions in the areas at risk of motion sickness
KH1 gave me sickness on PS4 and Epic. Tried your settings and others (on Steam) and it actually made it worse to where I was bedridden for a few days with serious nausea. What worked for me is playing on Steam Deck Oled (plays awesome by default), and Virtual Desktop on Quest 3 wireless-which btw is awesome in VR, like a full room home theater flatscreen gaming!
After buying this series for the third time, I can now finally start my journey with KH on two separate devices because PC desktop and console just didn’t work for me.
I'm wondering if Steam Deck Oled is useful to have, if this works for not having motion sickness playing KH1 (and other games) I seriously will put it on my wishlist
On PS4 and Epic I got motion sickness from beginning to mid island, so I can’t say whole game as I couldn’t survive the sickness at all. With combination of playing for 2 hours on each Steam Deck and VD+Quest 3, I’m finally off that island and enjoying meeting so many familiar characters!
I have both Steam Deck LCD and Oled, both purchased on launch and have zero regrets with my purchases. When games aren’t Deck verified (or don’t play well) I simply stream those games from my PC to my SD.
I don't need VD Quest 3 right now, I don't really like VR games, but maybe I can overcome motion sickness just buying Steam Deck
The VD+Q3 is a whole different experience I figured I’d throw out there for VR enthusiast who have yet to try VR flat gaming. It’s my current solution of playing KH in a virtual huge screen vs my PC monitors or TV (SD dock mode) that have given me the KH sickness.
