Steam Deck audio crackle

Hi everyone,

I’m encountering an issue with Kingdom Hearts 1.5 + 2.5 HD on my Steam Deck. The audio is crackling during gameplay, cutscenes and even the main menus. It’s becoming quite distracting and getting to the point of being unplayable on Steam Deck. I’ve tried adjusting the audio settings and reinstalling the game, but the problem persists. Has anyone else experienced this, and if so, do you have any suggestions for fixing it? Everything else seems fine in terms of performance. Any help or tips would be much appreciated!

To fix the crackling you must first download heroic games launcher in desktop mode and add any exe file (it doesn't matter which) from here you want to click settings then change the prefix to the one KH uses. Normally for 1.5+2.5 it will be "/home/deck/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/25524230/pfx"

From here if you scroll down and click on "Winetricks" then "Winetricks GUI"

A white box will pop up, click on "Select the default WinePrefix"

Then "Install a windows DLL or component "

Scroll down until you find "Xaudio29" then click confirm and it will install. Once it has installed you can safely close winetricks and see if it has fixed the issue on your steam deck :)

I did try this and it did fix the audio issues but it also created new issues such as the opening cinematic to stutter uncontrollably which didn't happen before. It may be totally unrelated, so I might try this again. I just wish Square took more care with their PC ports and gave us official updates.
