Maybe I shouldn't Have Gotten The Ultimate Weapon WTF!
WASTE OF TIME! I beat sepheroth and everyone on proud mode with a kingdom key. Now I am burnt out and can't be bothered playing anymore Kingdom Hearts for a while now lol. The synthesize thing was probably the reason like some of those items needed was tiresome lol. Is it as bad in the following games to get the Ultimate Weapon? I hope not.

Getting Ultima Weapon in the other games varies in regards to how tolerable it is going forward. KH2 and 3's involve Synthesis again, but the special items required are gathered while exploring and doing other activities, and gathering the normal materials is made dramatically more easy by giving you more Lucky Strikes.

The other games, aside from Re:CoM, require you to beat certain bosses to obtain Ultima Weapon instead.

It's a bit of a give and take. On the one hand you don't need to do every recipe in the game again and there's no materials locked behind doing rare-spawn gimmick heartless anymore. On the other, the Ultima Weapon specifically does still have materials that require you doing a list of very specific activities, notably the Atlantica Minigames for KH2 and the Frozen Slider in KH3.

The Ultima Weapon is never a necessary get though, ironically enough it's not even the best weapon in any of the games it's in. In KH2 the best is either Decisive Pumpkin or Feninr, depending on the amount of cheese you want to do. KH3 is much more preference-based, but does give you Oathkeeper relatively easily.

Have you actually played any of the KH games or are you just trolling, because saying the Ultima Weapon is not the best weapon is factually incorrect IT IS THE BEST weapon in all KH games by far.

I don't troll. People think I do from time to time because I'm not shy about voicing unpopular perspectives. Frankly, I don't understand how trolling is "amusing" to some people in the first place.

But it is true, especially in KH 1 and 2. Ultima Weapon is the best general-purpose keyblade in KH1, but Divine Rose's buff means it outpreforms it on physical attacking, while Diamond Dust is the best Magic-focused Keyblade. In KH2, Ultima Weapon is good for the extra MP Hasteaga, but in terms of damage it is greatly outpreformed by the extra Combo Boost from Decisive Pumpkin or Negative Combo from Fenir. KH3, Keyblades are more preference focused because of the transformations (I rather enjoy the Frozen Ice skates and the Tangled Staff, personally), and while Ultima is obviously very strong It's objectively tied with Oathkeeper/Oblivion.

Ultima weapon is always a very strong general-purpose keyblade, but it never out-preforms more specialized keyblades.

In KH2, Ultimate Weapon is a good all-rounder, but overshadowed by some others if you want to be optimal in certain fights.
You could argue that it is very strong in KH3.

This is the correct answer. Ultima Weapon is the best "general use" in most of the games with more focused weapons outperforming it.

Sorry no that is incorrect, Ultima Weapon is the best full stop.

Numbers don't lie. If you don't care to be optimal, Ultima Weapon will work fine for anything.

In some cases, it's not though. In regards to the ability offered, or even in regards to raw stats, there are other Keyblades that definitively out-perform Ultima Weapon.

  • In KH1, Ultima Weapon is the best. Divine Rose is a fantastic Keyblade, but Ultima meets or beats it in every stat - Strength, MP, Critical Rate and Bonus, Recoil, and Reach.
  • KH2's Ultima is probably the most well-balanced Keyblade, aside from Winner's Proof. But its ability - MP Hastega - only really excels in specific situations where you're heavily reliant on Magic. Other Keyblades like Decisive Pumpkin and Hero's Crest have better abilities, and the former matches Ultima's Strength. Stat-wise, Fenrir beats it in Strength by +1, and Winner's Proof in Magic by +3 while only having 1 less Strength, the trade-off for both being abilities that are potentially detrimental. There's a reason that folks who play the game much more frequently than others, like speedrunners, opt for other Keyblades over Ultima.
  • BbS' Ultima is outright bested by Royal Radiance, which has higher stats across the board and fills the Command Gauge faster, a trait that is completely unique to it as far as I know.
  • 3D's is, again the most well-balanced, though there are a few other Keyblades that match its stats - and one, Unbound, has 2 more Strength in exchange for 2 less Magic and an increased chance for Reality Shifts over Ultima.
  • To briefly cover Re:CoM and Re:coded, Re:CoM's is once again the most balanced with high Strike and Thrust damage, but also costs the most CP of all the Keyblade cards - there are also other cards with better Finish stats or faster swing speed. Re:coded's is hard to gauge, since Keyblades only have a Length stat and the value of one over another is heavily dependant on the Clock Trees of each.
  • KH3's is a much closer race thanks to the Keyblade Forge and the variety of Keyblade Abilities and Formchanges, but I'd still say that Ultima is the best overall - access to Situation Boost, Combo Boost and Air Combo Boost make it tough to beat in regards to raw power. Stat-wise, Oblivion is the only Keyblade to match its Strength, and Classic Tone beats it in Magic.

I found obtaining the Ultima Weapon in KH 3 to be the worst. Obtaining the final ingredients for the weapon involved taking photos of Mickey Emblems scattered around the entire game not to mention beating an annoying mini game that involved sliding down a mountain on a shield. Seriously screw that mini game. Not sure if I can be bothered playing it again here tbh but we'll see. It just depends if I'm in the mood or not.

I personally found Ultima Weapon to be the best but I guess it just depends on your playstyle. I think Oblivion is almost if not as good as Ultima Weapon.

Yeah.. Spent an extra 10 hours farming the mats for it.

Yeah, getting that weapon was a pain. But I did it mainly for the achievements. I don't look forward to getting in the future but I will push through more slogfests if needed.

I've made the Ultima Weapon in both KH1 and KH2 now (still need to complete the journal in KH2) and it's been the only Keyblade I've kept Equipped to base Sora. The damage from Decisive Pumpkin is nice, but it doesn't apply to aerial combos at which point you're basically using Ultima without an ability. Same with Hero's Crest, it's just a weaker keyblade on ground combos. But DP is numerically the stronger keyblade in ground combos. That's just a fact.

Hence why I said that Ultima is the best "general use" keyblade. I beat Sephiroth and Data Lex with Ultima and trying DP on both did give me more damage but I'm not good enough to capitalize on the bonus so Ultima was just a better fit for me.

Honestly to me it feels like the Ultima Weapon in KH2 is like designed as like a "jack of all trades master of none" kinda weapon while it's doesn't do physical damage as well as Decisive Pumpkin and Hero's Crest and doesn't do magic as well as Bond of Flame, Mysterious Abyss and Photon Debugger honestly I'm really glad they learned this for KH3 in that the Ultima Weapon in KH3 combines the abilities from Decisive Pumpkin and Hero's Crest and Situation Boost in addition all at once I really should've think that in KH2 the abilities of Decisive Pumpkin and Ultima Weapon would be swapped but the Devs can't predicted that
