Also the ghost that drops frost stones also drops potions so you can farm them from it. I personally just bought a bunch when gunning for them to save time.
Also CoM is after 1 and is different to the GBA release.
Farming Dark Matter was even more frustrating because I kept failing at that stupid jungle slide repeatedly.
However, the most aggravating part was having to enter and re-enter the same area 20 times, only for the enemies to still not spawn.
Luckily, I got fortunate with the Frost Stone since used two elixirs to finish him off.
And yes, definitely play Re:Chain of Memories last, as you get some secret cards if you’ve played or watched the entirety of 358/2 Days first.
Unless you don’t care about cutscenes or story
You play things in Release Order
If you know the story of CoM there's no reason to subject yourself to it again. It's purely a "if you want to" game. The Achievements take forever anyway.
Best tip I saw for those was in a forum post: climb the buildings to the right of the area, then just stand on the roof and lock on with Thundaga when the monkeys get close enough. It kinda eats through ethers, but having MP Gift on Goofy helps with that, and it takes until like the third or fourth reset of monkey spawns before they start noticing you up there.
Agreed. Even if I am dreading having to deal with Mushroom 8. -_-
As for playing Re:CoM, I'd say yes for the story and the upgrades from the GBA version, at the very least. Plus it would be a nice break from synthesis for you, since that's like the one game in the series where that isn't a thing, I'm pretty sure. The only thing you need to grind for (besides leveling up) are the enemy cards, and there's a whole video about how to break the RNG to get around that.
Just don't choose Wonderland as the first world you visit though.
I highly recommend playing Re:COM. It's actually a pretty fun game once you get the mechanics down. Once you're able to build a solid deck with sleights the game becomes a breeze. The card system takes a little while to get used to though.
