Game running in slow motion
Randomly after almost 30 hours of playing, my game now launches in what I can only describe as slow motion. No issues prior to this besides some minor frame drops in a couple cutscenes, but now the game is actually unplayable and takes almost a full two minutes to even get to the menu of the launcher. I've tried everything: verifying game files, uninstalling and reinstalling, turning off refresh rate, locking and unlocking the framerate, messing with the resolution, running my graphics card on high performance...can someone please help an extremely frustrated fan who's so close to finishing KH1 and doesn't want to lose all my progress?

try disabling gsync/freesync if you have it enabled

unfortunately tried that already, did not work. all drivers are up to date as well

On the main menu right before you select which game to boot, disable the "Refresh Rate" option. The cutscenes run at 30fps and anything more wrecks audio/graphical sync. You can also try playing around with full screen / borderless fullscreen.

So the only other thing I can suggest is displaying your framerate with some other software like rivatuner to confirm what it's doing and capping the framerate at 30.

Also my bad, I need to learn how to read. Hope you find a fix soon homie.

game has problems with higher resolutions, I started KH2 and it was in slow motion turns out the game auto set resolution to 4k even though I use 1440p monitor, the problem seems to be even though game is using a higher refresh rate, the game is not demanding more power or usage from your hardware resulting in slow motion.

1440p = 6-7% cpu usage, 18% gpu usage
4k = 6-8% cpu usage, 18-22% gpu usage....

i think half the stuttering problems and other problems would be fixed if they increased this limit.

340 wat GPU only using 100wats
10GB VRAM only using 2GB

only fix is go into nvidia control panel, disable gsync, turn off vsync
in game turn of sync and turn off frame limit.

after further messing around
KH2 now running smooth here is my workaround-

(*** = IMPORTANT)
NVIDIA control panel

-vsync off***
-monitor technology - fixed refresh (gsync off)***
-power management mode - max performance mode***
-OpenGL GDI - prefer Compatible
-threaded optimisation - on
-Vulkan/OpenGL - prefered layered on DXGI swapchain

In game options

***-SCREEN MODE - windowed or Borderless Fullscreen, FULLSCREEN causes EXTREME slow motion + stuttering***
-framerate - unlocked
-refresh rate off

Enjoy :FFIX_Moogle:

Dude thank you so much - this helped me out loads.

I was having problems with Re:Chain of Memories cutscenes. Nothing else was working ;_;
So, its really ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ stupid but I started having frame and performance issues on 1.5 Final Mix and I was in the Tarzan Level with huge drops. I'm playing on controller and I go to use my mouse to do something on the 2nd screen and boom, its hella smooth... so I humor myself and turn the controller off and back on again and I haven't had any more issues. Like ffs

thank you for solving
This has been helpful for me, as well… but now that vsynch is off, is there any way to avoid the annoying “tearing”?

(I’m starting at the beginning, btw (KH1) if that makes a difference…)

I am using windowed mode in game and not getting any screen tearing but I do get it in borderless mode when I tab out of game then back in, i also have VRR in windows 11 settings enabled not sure if this is stopping the tearing, worth checking or trying out
Settings > System > Display > Graphics > click "change default graphics settings"
In here I have all 3 options enabled, as I say worth a bash but my monitor also has adaptive sync enabled so could also be that.

yeh after reading the setting I defo recon it is the variable refresh rate setting in windows 10 or 11.
