Yes, it's cheesy. It's an old PS2 era game. Question answered #closethread and mark as "answered. If you want cheese, play "Extermination". It has that "cheesy" console launch-game feel in terms of game-play and dialogue.
The writing is 100% high quality cheese. I'd say Swiss cheese, for the occasional gaping plot hole or moments of fridge logic. But in true anime fashion, it does manage to touch on some deep and dark topics from time to time, as well as deliver amazing one-liners.
Also, the voice acting is spot on. I'm glad they got actual VA/CA's to do the voice-work and not just dragged a net around the office like other pubs have done and used whoever was there that day.
Kingdom Hearts' existence is Cheesy, but it all still works if you are willing to indulge your inner child.

Axel has a catchphrase, Got it memorised?
Everything past that is where it gets crazy. It's still pretty simple as long as you play in release order, but it's definitely being written freeform 1.5 games at a time, and it shows. It's still fun though.
Literally just got past the prologue last night and quoted Ansems "This world has been connected" speech. Probably because I often have "One who knows nothing, can understand nothing." pop into my head on a near daily basis
