So which one to play first once it comes out ?

from someone who never played KH, is it a good series gameplay story wise to jump in ?

But id personally say in the 1.5 + 2.5 collection go down in the order but play kh2 before watching 358/2 . ( Kh1 , ReCom, Kh2, 358, BBS, ReCoded ) everything else can be played going down

1.5 is the first game and some other ones meant to be played after it.
2.5 is the second game and some other ones meant to be played after it.
2.8 is a game meant to be played after those along with some movies.
3 is the third mainline game but the latest title.

1.5 has these games KH1FM Re chain of memories BBS KH 2 358/2 days and re coded 358/2 days and coded are movies.
2.5 has these following games
Dream drop distance, Kingdom hearts union X back Cover, and 0.2 Fragmentary passage
this is techincally the TL in order

Back cover (Union X and Dark road are two seperate games)
BBS
Fragmentary passage (Note the game has past and current events here so you can play it after dream drop or before up to you)
KH1
Chain of memories
358/2 days
KH II
re coded
Dream drop distance
KH III
Melody of Memory

Its in the order you need to go through them on the menu. You dont even need to worry about that as long as you progress through the list top to bottom.

I totally disagree with Joseph's order personally. If you do it in the order he suggests, it actually spoils the story early. Lots of reveals happen that you shouldnt know about till much later. Especially fragmentary passage.

I have played most of the series started with the first with playstation emulators(played the first in 2006 on pc sx 2 then later 2 and then the psp and ds games with psp and ds emulators) But now i will play all of them again

its one of my favs. The order is really quite simple and i get the names could be confusing for an outsider. Ill explain the names why not, so on the PS3 there was Kingdom Hearts 1.5 which included KH1 and two other games that take place after the first game, hence why there is a .5 after 1. Also on the PS3 they released Kingdom Hearts 2.5 which again included KH2 and 2 games that take place after KH2 hence again is why there is a .5. So when they released it on PS4 they bundled them together which is why you get 1.5+2.5 because its 2 standalone collection games in one. As for 2.8 its also another set of games leading up to the event of KH3, they even poke fun at this in KH3 as the prologue is called 2.9, so i hope that cleared up the naming.

NOW as for the order to play all of the games in its as simple as going through the games these collection order them as, no really, its that simple. People like to see how confusing it is to get into this series but it really is as simple as that. Hope you enjoy the games if you decide to pick them up!

Incorrect. BBS takes place earlier than the rest of the series, but the events that occur, tie directly into events later.

Spoiler Below - Dont read if you havent played BBS or CoM

If you play BBS before CoM, it ruins the ENTIRE game of CoM. Castle Oblivion is created due to the events during and at the end of BBS.

So, I really REALLY strongly recommend, you do not do the games out of the actual order, if you care about lore and story.

They've tried to simplify this as much as possible.
Instead of using a PS2 for KH1 and KH2, a GBA for Chain of Memories, a PSP for Birth by Sleep, and a 3DS for Dream Drop Distance.

Expanded versions and different regions should be simple and you don't have to worry too much.

It just goes up from 1.5, 2.5, to 2.8.

The game starts with a launcher and if you start at the top of the menu and go down you'll play/see everything in order.

They are. The reason being days was in 1.5 and 2 was in 2.5 back when they were separate collections on PS3.

I will get now the 1.5 as it is 4 games and 2.5 later when ifnish them because 2.5 is another 4 games. Then we have 3. So start from Bith by sleep? Or play first 1 then 2 then birth by sleep and then chain of memories?
