Waiting for depth gen to initilize - VDP

In the actual viewer, I can generate decent-to-good video depth, not necessarily in real-time, but not terrible either. But In the video depth preprocessor, I cannot get it to do anything. The Log is stuck at Waiting for depth gen to initialize.

I would like to have the VDP running and generating depth videos while I do other things. Is this not possible? Am I forgetting a setting or something?

Hmm, not sure, but it may be trying to download a model in the background and just not giving any feedback. I'm not sure what model it's set to by default but anything besides depth_anything_v2_vits will require a download I think, so it may be best to make sure they're downloaded via the AutoDepth app first if that's a problem.

Otherwise if you can verify the model files for the model you are trying to use are downloaded in steamapps\common\AutoDepth Image Viewer\Midas3\weights
then maybe share your settings and I can take a look

I have 4 models in the Weights folder - Depth Anything v2 vitl and vits, depth pro, and ZoeD M12 pt. The VDP is set for Zoe - Not sure how to change that
It also has a check mark by it in the VDP so I assumed it was good to go

I changed it to Depth_Pro - not sure if thats the best option, but it seems to be working.
Are there other depth models I can use for this or is this considered the best working option?

I think ZoeDepth is pretty outdated at this point and you could just delete that if you want.
depth_anything_v2_vitl is a pretty good balance of speed and quality I think.
Depth pro may or may not be higher quality/more consistent, but it is definitely a good bit slower.
So I'd recommend choosing between them based on your speed preference

I also couldn't get the video depth preprocessor to do anything, its definitely worked for me before, I have the evidence to prove it, I've checked the file integrity and everything seems to still be there. My guess its because ZoeD_M12_N doesn't work anymore, changing to what you suggested at the top there worked immediately, so I reckon in future that should be default. Also maybe add a drop-down menu so less people need to look up a random forum thread for answers.

I thinkkkkk i already changed the default now to be depth anything v2 and removed zoe so it should be fine. The text field has tooltips for the valid models but sometimes it's tricky to get them to show up. Maybe a dropdown would be better.
