race driver grid or grid autosport?
i know this topic has come up quite often already but shall i go for grid 1 or grid autosport?
so far i read that autosport besides being the more expensive and dlc overloaded one had at least partially worse handling than the original, and that the ai was more stupid and/or definitely less fun than before? that u would also have trouble finding ppl in multiplayer? from singeplayer perspective i read it was less rewarding, repeating courses, u couldnt unlock cars etc? what about the sound overall?

what attracts me is the graphics even though it looks very similiar autosport definitely looks better to me in details, the colour filter and less blurriness (even though u can probably turn those down in grid 1 i would assume).. but then theres the price point and all the other doubts.

content and graphic wise grid franchise seems to be the most attractive to me anyhow after looking through some games..

can any grid veteran give his humble opinion on this and confirm or deny the comparison?

i havn't played racing game for years and wouldn't like to get disappointed when i buy one..
pls help me decide :P

AI is stupid in Autosport, but nothing that's much worse than RDG. Handling is definitely better in Autosport, plus you can tune cars to your tastes.
It's not DLC overloaded really, the game is fun and you can sink in lots of play time without the DLC. Although they certainly add to the experience.
There are plenty of people in multiplayer, you just have to change your region to avoid the stupid region restriction. Plus there are organized groups you can join.
Career is different and somewhat less interactive, but is still fun and good practice on cars and tracks. But for long playtime, you should look into MP, it's much more detailed.
Graphics are a way above in GAS, except for the cockpit view which is low-detailed.

both and assetto corso and Project cars
i have a question concerning grid autosport's multiplayer.. i got the feeling its an mmo, and what the single player should have been in the first place.. earning experience, i dont really like that.

do i have the choice to play the multiplayer without tuning, and everyone having the same cars and access towards it? does the rank system matter for the whole mp experience?

It's definitely not an MMO. The car tuning helps, but it's not as simple as "able to tune = win" and it can be disabled in custom lobbies. Owning the car allows you to tune it and apply your own liveries, but any car can be driven as a loaner.
i understand they want to give a motivation to keep me playing it yet i dont really get it cause most of the time u will probably not be able to choose your car freely anyways so when do u make use of your actual vehicles? i for my part had hoped they would have just avoided this metagame as this only favors time over skill, and since i dont care about tuning anyways.

thank u all for you answers! really appreciate it, im probably gonna buy it.

hopefully we see us ingame :P

Why? You can get a car in the most popular classes within the first week, and use it from that point on
i meant: doesn't it depend on the racing mode, event or track what cars i will be able to choose from at the race? so that i would barely get to use em anyways

It only depends on the car class selected, not mode or track. And more than half of all online races are 5-6 most popular classes.

Didnt they shut down the servers from Grid 1 long ago ???

if not Buy both Autosport and Racedriver.

i personally think Autosport is better, better Graphik better gameplay.
both great Arcade racer with a little bit of sim.

If you want a great looking sim race game buy assetto corsa
yeah grid1 mp aint even working, lazy and greedy. so the question is none working mp vs working probably worse mp lol. the graphics are a bit dated in grid1, i am no graphic ♥♥♥♥♥ and in a racing game u drive fast but just watching some videos i noticed strange looking tree textures that caught my eye, low draw distance and blurry/sepia filter. apparantly its moddable though. no dlc.

after my conclusion gird 1 probably the better package, cause
finding out about garage dlc, boost dlc, map tracks dlc is another let down.
screw that, if multiplayer experience wasnt abused enough apparantly?

i read about being bound to have 30 or 35garage slots (what for?) and that they still wouldn't have fixed repair cost/$$$ in regards to more expensive cars, thus making ppl grind or give an incentive to buy the freaking dlc or just skip the certain car categories. in all honesty i think ill pass on this one until the season pass becomes affordable or just skip it altogether, maybe buy grid1, because in the next codemaster's game all these artificial flaws will be fixed, and that could happen soon enough. my bet.

thank u all for the feedback again!

I played both games on my second account. Grid 1 is more better than autosport. It has more gameplay (longer carrier) and more cars. But autosport is a good game too. It has better graphic, achievements, steam cloud and... :) I suggest you to buy both, but if you want to buy only 1 game, autosport is my choose why? because it is newer and because of that their is more players playing multiplayer. So you can play multiplayer too (It is so fun and there is always players to play even now) Feel free to ask me any questions about the game :)
i bought DIRT 3, good thing i didnt buy grid autosports.
dirt 3 is more of a rally than racing game nonethelss it offers a racing game type and variety; interesting, challenging offroad tracks, if a bit too short; different weather conditions; a simple and easily accessible menu (not more sterile than autosport itself can only be); 'good enough' graphics; no real grinding, no mmo in mp; garage unlimited (?!); no dlc purchasable or at least we're guaranteed be upgrade to complete edition right now.. feels like the dlc completes the game *surpise suprise*, also it is cheap to buy.
gfwl free version supposedly on the way.

saw grid autosport on sale today and felt like ppl should consider dirt 3 as well.
