Save game corruption - Data Load Failed
Hi,

Whenever I try to load up my save game on my Linux machine, it responds with 'Data Load Failed' and I cannot use it.
However, the same save game on a Windows install works fine.

I have found previous threads with Data Load Failed issues on linux, and I saw that it was mentioned that Windows saves are compatible on all platforms, but perhaps the windows version was corrupted.

I verified the game cache on each syste,. I then loaded up the save game in windows, then resaved it to make a new save file.
I have verified that save files are identical across both windows and linux machines [md5sums match], but still no good.

Is there any way to get this save to work? I really don't want to have to start my profile all over again.

Thanks.

Bump.

Has no one else had any issues with corrupt saves from steam cloud?

Why is it only not able to load on the Linux version?

Same problem here. I have to use another profile on linux to play grid. Windows profile works not on linux, thouth the linux profile works on windows?

My Windows Profile worked on Linux flawlessly. After some day without noticing an update or anything the savegame was broken on Linux. It is still working perfectly on Windows. Reinstalled GRID two times on Linux and on Windows, verfied local data on Linux and on Windows. No improvement yet. Because of my online progress I will not start a new profile on Linux so I stopped playing it on Linux. Or is online progress saved independently from savegame?

All progress is saved locally and in the Steam Cloud. I lost my savegame through the savegame coruption bug, that appears on Windows systems as well, therefore the mirrored copy in the Steam Cloud was corrupted, too, so I had to start all over again. Singleplayer career and Multiplayer/Online were reset to the beginning.

The problem here is not the synchronization. The files on linux and windows are the same, and both profiles work on windows, but on linux only the (tiny) profile I started on linux works.
I tried now changing the language and the DLCs, no changes.

The problem comes from steam-client configuration files. Not from game-files.

Hmmm, interesting. In what way is the steam client configuration affecting the save game loading?

It is interesting that a new game made on linux works on both windows and linux. Yet a new game made on windows fails on linux. So what happens when the files are created which causes this problem?

And how can this information help with our issue?

I searching for configuration files in steam-client..

So i don't understand all configs, but i can tell where to look in.
Configuration is called:
Steam Client API interface

And i think this need to be fixed by Valve. Or you compile steam_api.h with correct options if you know enough.
