Do I have to start a new instance?
So I'm stuck as the human soldier because I died as Katrien. The only problem is that his double jump isn't high enough to jump over the edge of walls, and I can't seem to mantle up edges that are slanted. Is there some sort of secret maneuver to clear these parts, or am I legit stuck and need to start a new game?

Odd this being reported again. Soldiers should be able to climb any height. Can you post an image of the area your character is not being able to climb?

I ran into the same problem today with the Officer (Pincoyas). Just couldn't double jump up to any slanted ledge, it was really annoying since I had to skip areas (like a revive alters) because of it.

Make sure you are maximizing your jumps and double jumping at the peak of your first jump. I never had this issue and just beat the game for the first time after playing for 7 hours straight, many times I had to explore the levels as the soldier.

It's not an issue of not knowing when to jump.

And I only noticed this with Pincoyas soldier. Didn't seem to be an issue with the other two characters the last couple days I been playing.

I've only played with Katrien so far, do the other characters have different soldiers or something? Also OP mentioned he was using Katrien's soldier, so my comment stands as far as that goes.

Yea they have different soldiers. Katrien has the normal soldier (Sword), Monk has the Fifrefighter (Axe), and Pincoya has the Officer (Spear).

You guys are probably missing the essential info that doesn't seem to be covered in the tutorial: crouch + jump = high jump. So crouch jump, and then double jump.

I was stuck in the same places until I found a previous thread that covered this.

Woah, thanks for the info. Never knew that :wizorbhappy:

I already know that. Problem is when you are on platforms and need to jump up on a ledge. Doing that on a platform will just make you drop down instead of jumping.

Well I was able to find a way to make these jumps as the Officer. By doing the double jump after sliding/sticking on the side of a wall. For me it's the only way I can make the jump as the Officer when there is a platform and two slanted walls on each side. At least I know I can continue on when I come across these, but it's really annoying and shouldn't be like that.

This is how high I'm able to jump without triggering the mantling. I started at the hovering platform below, and I'm desperately trying to reach an alter.

Still can't get past it unless I somehow stick to the wall at the right height below the edge and trigger another jump, which is super rare in execution, since if you double jumped before sticking to the wall, you can only perform a single hop right after...

Hi guys, was confused about this issue until I managed to repro it from my end. There's effectively some areas where the soldier will barely not reach max height off the jump, if you need to back-track. We'll look into jump heights for an upcoming patch. Probably give the soldier a slight boost. Thanks for the reports.

not only the soldier. i get stuck often.

I really can't reach it...

EDIT: ok, after 40 jumps I manage to reach it. For some reason the character doesn't want to climb so I needed the best jump possible for my foot to reach the edge.

If you are playing the Lumber jack, you can sometimes cheese it by chaining an up attack into your jump.

Also, be aware the the soliders are not as agile as the main heros. You have to hold down the space bar and charge their jump.
