Demon Violinist

From what I understand he's suppose to give you an item or a transformation, but the last few times I have talked to him and accepted his offer, the result was he gave me nothing. He disappears then hunts me down a couple levels later. Is this working as intended?

It's not always item or soul. Sometimes he drops skill, or a money bag (with 5000 gold.)

I was aware of that, but I'm not sure what the point of dealing with him is if I'm not actually getting anything from him for accepting his deal. I know I didn't get a skill point or a money bag either. Like a devil deal in Isaac improves my character in some way shape or form, which is what I thought was the point of the demon violinist.

Once you capture him, there's really not much point in accepting his gift, IMO - he's just more of a nuisance than a help because you never know when he'll attack and it could be at a very inopportune time.
