music maker start up, stuck at first loading box

i just bought the premium 2014 edition, i have a brand new laptop that i know should be able to handle the program. is there a problem with this being that i run windows 8.1? like i said it goes through initializing different things for startup but the program doesnt actually load. any help GREATLY appreciated

they know this post has brought up problems but they have yet to fix them on windows 8
