Just play subnautica or something. 90% of the experience here is in the swim motion immersion. To have such a realistic setting and then only interact with it via mouse click or gamepad would create an awful schism.

VR Headsets aren't an option for everyone, not just on cost, but there's also accessibility (not everyone can deal with OLED), and that a lot of headsets are designed to be disposable ewaste.

The whole game basis is to move and interact with everything within your hands, so I can't see how you can cut it down to non-vr. And it's not even a story driven game, why you can't just play another non vr game about water exploration?
For me, it's like asking devs of modern fps shooter, like CoD, to make it work without the mouse, because hey, we have arrows on your keyboard, isn't it enough?
Yep, it will be technically playable but you will not get all the fun of interactions with the world, so just why.

I got a feeling the dev is leaving a lot of money on the table making this VR only. Thankfully this is single player so you'd not have to deal with the toxic community surrounding this game.

You probably can play this without vr headset at some level. But why would you? That would be pointless and boring. The immersion in these beautiful graphics is the point of the game (we should really be calling this an experience rather than a game). Not affording a vr headset is simply not believable anymore. Are you saying you can't afford even a used psvr1 or a used quest 1 headset but you can afford a PC with a GPU good enough to run this game well?

Exactly! he can get a used headset for less than 100 bucks.

Well fast supercars aren't an option for me either because I'm poor and can't drive, but I don't write letters to Lamborghini HQ, whining that they should make a car that suits my criteria. And that's cuz I don't think that everything should revolve around me an what I want.
