Just bought this today, was feeling nostalgic get same issues with violation error:

Happens as soon as the game goes into the intro movie. On Windows 10, i5 4670K, 16 Gig DDR3, GTX 1070.

I had that issue too. I bought the gog version to see if its working but no it didnt. In a german forum someone said to pull out the headset or any usb device except mouse and keyboard. It worked for me with the gog version. Try with the steam version.

error messages are still occurring. Cannot open the damn thing, even if I try to change the compatibility and run as admin and still doesn't work. Turn off aero themes, turn off second screens, nothing. I don't really want to refund just $5 for these two games over this kind of issue, because I loved playing these as a kid. But it's incredibly frustrating that it isn't just download and play

Just did that, now the game runs perfectly.

Just my five cents after battling this friking issue, I just kept opening the gcii.exe in rapid succession. It would go through quite a number of popups saying the program was already running, then I'd get the access violation and then it would load up and run sweet. WTAF. Well at least i can kinda get it running.

We've seen more reports of this issue being fixed by unplugging headsets and other USB devices. Can you see if that helps?

I had the "violation" error on Ground Control II and just a black screen and crash on Ground Control I, removing most of my extra USBs solved the problem for both games. A patch for this would be nice but at least this is a temporary solution.

hell yes this works, after playing around with my usb connections i found it to be my razer wireless usd to be at fault with it unpluged the game starts up also im using the gog version, if possible this info need pining for any one ells to find
