Ground Control Remake?
Does this mean Rebelion are making a remae to Ground Control in adition to the VR version of the shoddy arcade Battlezone concept?

Ah ok, well we can only hope that Rebelion are really remaking the 1998 FPS/RTS hybrid but that's another story.

How did Rebellion end up owning this title? I'm having a hard time believing that Massive just gave up this IP. Doesn't make any sense to me.

Aren't they also considering remaking that? I remember a RPS update talking bout it. Still, can't believe they initially went with the first one that nobody cares about.

well im hoping that adding this here is more of a test to see if there still is an audiance for the game. i baught it because i loved both 1 and 2 and feel a third game would be a nice addition.

hopfully that is what the company is planning to do with the coin from selling this.

Shoulden't games like Dawn of War 2 be enough to prove that? I mean Ground Control (at least 2) pretty much formed the base formula that game used in it's multiplayer skermish mode.

You're right, but companies base sales usually upon how well a series is known. 40K is what gets DoW2 attention and sales which makes marketing a cake walk. Everyone already knows about it. GC not so much. It's always been a small community so there would need to be more money and work done to get it noticed.

...And yet, Rebelion are choosing to remake the arcade Battlezone which nobody knows and cares about instead of the Activision game which has already got a well-established fanbase. Activision don't really care about the IP too so Rebelion could easily pry it off Activision or a few thousand, if they still own the rights that is.
Although one thing's for sure is Activision can't sue Rebelion for making a battlezone-esque RTS/FPS game.

Not really sure what Rebellion hope to accomplish with releasing this title, the original game has been free for some time now, sure the package on STEAM comes with DC, but not many people played that title when it came out and still don’t to this day. Although this game is over 15 years old the gameplay is what keeps it going. The graphics at the time were really ground breaking and the free roaming camera was revolutionary for its time.
If Rebellion were planning on making money on this, then they are about 10 years too late, they would have been better off re-mastering this game, just like the Homeworld title.

As i said in an earlier post about their Battlezone remake, too bad they chose the wrong Battlezone to remake.
