FIX for crash on windows 10

Hi all :)

As many of you had it, my version of the game crashed at startup. Launch the game, black screen, back to desktop. I did some quick debugging and found the issue happened into one of the windows 10 DLLs, following a direct input 7 call.
Anyway, I did a quick fix in the form of a dinput.dll file that redirects calls to directInput 8, and now it works perfectly !

P.S. This fix may not work on windows versions earlier than windows 10. Also I checked the fix and it works on GOG.com versions of the game (an old one I had downloaded several years ago, and the latest version they have.). Dunno if it works on steam's version, but hey. Why not. It also works with high resolution mod, and even with multiple-monitors configurations.

The mod is on moddb, but in the "ground control 2" game mods (dunno why)

First of all, I wanted to say thanks because I was able to get GC to work on my Windows 10 Alienware and got lots of good gameplay in after a 10 year hiatus! I recently got a new Windows 11 Alienware and it the patch doesn't seem to work, tried fiddling with compatibility mode settings to no avail. Any chance of a future Windows 11 patch?

Hello FriendlyFireAZ ! Thanks for your feedback, I'm happy to see this fix still helps people out.
Unfortunately, regarding the port to windows 11, I can't tell you right now, as I don't plan to move to windows 11 in the near future. I don't even know if the issue is the same on this OS.
I suggest you keep the windows 10 PC with you as long as you want to play GC untill I try to do a fix. Otherwise, if you know a developer around you, a link to the source code is also available on the modDB page :)

Hello! I'm sad to read that it didn't work for you. I own the GoG version of it and it works, so I guess the issue you encounter is different. Can you please give more details on the issue you have, when it happens, and if it's a 100%.
If you're confident enough in regedit, you can enable local dumps using Windows Error Reporting :

(mini dumps shall suffice. Otherwhise, your dumps may take gigs each time you have a crash...)
If you manage to make one, please contact me and we'll find a way for me to get my hands on the dump file and try to find a fix.
