"An internet connection is required to play on PC."

Why, just why? 1+2 can be tricked into offline, I hope it will also work.

Oooh.. no offline, no buy. Same as 1 & 2 unfortunately.

Seriously again? This was a day one purchase for me. Guess it'll have to wait on a heavy discount.

it's the perfect game for Steamdeck and such... why would anyone lock it to online

Instantly refunded 1+2 just for that reason, wanted to play on steamdeck on the go, not gonna even bother with 3+4 I guess, and I'm the ideal audience for a THPS remake. But I'll rather boot up THPS3 if this is the case
You can trick 1+2 into offline mode by changing an .ini file. I'm assuming you will be able to do it here also.
Well...if it's Steam Deck certified like 1+2 is then you can get around that anyway, although it shows how useless the requirement is in the first place.

Actually you just have to set a startup flag in the Steam options for the game to pass to the executable that you're running the game on a Steam Deck and then it ignores the always online requirement. That's how I use it on my GPD Win 4 (which is a portable PC and should be just as entitled to play the game offline as a Steam Deck).

Ooooff. Just, why? Makes it a no go unless basically free.

The problem is that this only works on the Steam-version.

Since it's clearly just an artificial requirement, having it at all make it once again objectively inferior to non-legitimate copies and honest buyers (us) look like clowns.

It's been for like a year.
I just have to question why companies keep on doing this. All this does is encourage piracy even more because the game people want to play offline, can't. And why is it that so many games that would be good for pc handhelds, not have offline. This continuously boggles my mind.

Control. They want to normalize the idea, that you don't buy a copy of a game but just a license or a service that can be revoked at any time for any reason. It's only a matter of time, until services like EA Play or XBOX Game Pass dominate the industry. Not much longer than that and you'll be renting GPU's via cloud-gaming, instead of actually buying a computer to play games locally with.

"You will own nothing and be happy."

On that note, especially if you're from an EU country, you should check out this website:

Ah, I hope it needs only for game launch, but yes, it's a strong argument to not preorder this game. I don't like online games, I'm too old for this ♥♥♥♥…
I didn't get 1+2 for the explicit reason that it was online only. I didn't pirate the game either. I just didn't play it. I just played THUG Pro. I have played it on Xbox, to be clear, but when I switched to PC, I didn't re-buy it, because it's dumb to be kicked out of your story mode game because you don't have internet. People don't pirate games if you make a good game that people like and want to support.

I debate between numerous games when I purchase and something like Online Only is gonna get it voted out of the cart every time. We know we don't own games anymore, but the least you can do is let us play offline.
oh no. wanted to buy the series here. read online required for SP, unwishlisted
