I'm Impressed
To start I was extremely bummed by the mandatory checklist tutorial. that's a lousy way to start any game, and I thought especially sad for the follow-up to a game like the first that was so hands-off in teaching you its simple controls. anyway. I wasn't into that.

then I had horrible software problems where it wouldn't load and when it did it wouldn't load anything other than the training area. so I wasn't into that, either.

then for some reason it started working again on the third install. and here we are. reamed through all the goals and I just want the damn thing. I'm very impressed. I think it's a really cool follow-up. so much better than "Lonely Mountains Downhill 2: Unicycles" or something only partially different than the first. (actually damn, maybe do the unicycle one after all - you can have that one for free, provided you allow me to purchase this complete game right now. I'll be waiting for word. laff.)

I think it's going to be easier than LMD. I think it's going to mess with perspective less, I think it's going to be a lot lest "frustrating" (and so "difficult", though the demo gave me an able tricky time getting the last Black Diamond unlock). I can live with that, as long as it keeps the snowy mountain environments feeling distinct from one another - which must be REALLY tough to do. not quite a VARIED theme visually, at least initially.

but I loved how it looked. and felt. similar AND different. the developers have done a really good job, I think. provided the rest of the game is as well-designed as the first run. I'm into it. and very pleased, since I started on such a highly negative series of notes. I'm psyched for the next demo. good stuff. always happy to be wrong when it's about something GOOD.
