The switching between forward and backward trick

I love how they put the little detail to the game for example you can actually ski backwards and your character will change how they push the pole, they also look over the shoulder too.

And I would say that switching between forward and backward at the corner is the most satisfy thing in this game. It quite hard at first to figure it out but once you know the trick you will do this all day all night

It is pretty cool. I've managed to do it a couple of times by accident. It's basically reorienting the skis via holding "brake" (Left trigger) once stopped and turning, right?

Yeah, Holding brake and reorient 180 degree by using right stick will do that. once it turned you can release it and your character will adjust to it automatically. you also need to holding right trigger as well to keep the momentum go into the direction you want

same as at the corner but this time you need to switch the same direction as the corner it's more like drifting and turn around and the same time

Agreed, the backwards skiing is appealing and well done. There seems to be something glitchy about it registering for the online races though. I nave on multiple occasions skied for an entire section or two backwards without interruption and then at the end of the race the stats will say that none of the racers completed any distance backwards.
