And the count down clock was set by the devs. If the devs didn't touch the countdown clock then it would have counted down to when the store normally updates (at 1pm EST 10am PST.) Instead it was counting down to 7pm EST 4pm PST (or around there) for some reason.

I own both original and directors cut copy, even on different devices, played it in 90' at release, where lot of you were not even born yet, and countless times after that. But because it was good timing and I had lil time window, nobody around, I was like you know what, I'm getting it, because I want to play it RIGHT NOW... and tada countdown was just bs, if my company does that, I'd not sit in my villa.
Every money counts and they kicked themselves to the leg by the release bad start, that is worst you could do from business aspect. How many of those, who could not wait to play it, because it was only way they could get it at that time, they lost by that? That is gonna be 6 figures number net earnings in dollars minimum, that is what I'm talking about.

The devs just misconfigured the countdown. Instead of setting it to the actual release time of the game, they set it to midnight on the 19th. That's not a big deal.

Then as someone else said: if you cannot wait for some hours and take that as a reason to get it from "somewhere" else, you never planned to buy it anyways. Just say it instead of giving lame excuses.

that is why timing is important in business, I was about to get it because I wanted it at that time right away, there is short exclusivity window for devs to make it right. No matter u will try to imply the result is same, they could have my $30 now, if the release was at end of the countdown.
I was literally waiting eagerly to pay in nerd mode to not miss it, despite the fact I can reach original copy on shelf without standing, moreover having it installed on PC for years and I've played it last January. For me I won a battle with fomo, for them, they lost my $30. With right timing it would be opposite.
