Original voice overs or new?
Hey, does anyone know if they will use the original voice overs or if they will be recorded from scratch?

The reason I'm asking is because Nico's German voice actress sadly died a couple of years ago and was recasted in the latest game. The new one is okay but it's just not the same...

I can confirm they upscaled old voice overs. They are now 48kHz files instead of the old 11kHz. Don't expect any wonders, but audio is definitely improved. Especially hissing sounds are now much better.

I don't know for sure but I would be very surprised if they re-record the voices. Perhaps they might use a higher quality if one is available of the original but I can't see them doing more then that

I suppose they will do the same as directors cut, use the original voices and only record any new scenes with different actors. Pretty sure this is just a graphic overhaul so no much need to record any new voices.

The game is coming in many languages, so they will reuse the old voices. Not many games have so many voice localizations nowadays, and the few having them are normally triple A games.

Charles Cecil from Revolution Software was on a German video game show where about 30 minutes of gameplay was shown and the voices were identical to the original.

So I doubt that there will be any new voices in any version, which is a good thing.

Good to hear. I hope it's the same for the original English audio.

Original French audio files are badly compressed, it would be nice to remaster them, if possible ... 🫥

Enhancing was confirmed for English and German original audio files, so I think they will do this on all of the languages that are available.

I heard they were remastering audio in some way, but using original audio / recordings

They tried their best. There's not a lot you could do with the original files I guess. They're very low quality.

I don't know exactly what upscaling technique they used, but in some cases it doesn't sound very good. In others it sounds great. Luck of the draw, really.

Lady Piermont in particular sounds like Joey from Beneath a Steel Sky. It's not great.

The original files would sound better overall, imo, until they can give the audio another pass through their upscaler.

Good effort. Best effort. Just not *quite* there.

I hope they will work on a patch and improve the sound quality. There are a lot of complaints about this and sadly that is the only reason why I haven't purchased the game yet. :(
