Does anyone have a full list of what they plan to change/remove/add from the original?
If any of you played the original vs the remastered version, you probably know that some changes were made between the two. Ignoring the obvious addition of certain new segments (like the parts where we play Nico), there were certain interactive spots and/or jokes removed. Still, I think there were just some minor cuts, and no major changes (I still prefer the original version because of this, however).

Anyway, in an interview with Polygon (https://www.polygon.com/23842925/broken-sword-6-bs1-remaster-charles-cecil), Charles Cecil said that he wanted to change things which "...culturally, have slightly worried him" (below is the relevant excerpt from the interview).

"But Cecil is not above making a few changes to “some of the things, which, culturally, have always slightly worried me” about the 1996 game to make it “a little bit more culturally appropriate for 2023.” He cites the examples of a Syrian carpet seller character, changed to be less “stereotypically mean, he’s slightly more jovial,” and an awkward moment between the game’s pair of heroes, American patent lawyer George Stobbart and French journalist Nico Collard. “There’s another point where Nico is tied up, and George can kiss her when she’s tied up. And you know, that’s just a little bit strange. [...] It’s just three or four very, very minor things. But, you know, the example of that character, I’d been embarrassed about it pretty much from the beginning. So it’s just wonderful to be able just to tweak it [...] but without losing the core charm that existed.”"

In their christmas video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QC6_rrIIg7I) they mention doing something with lines they had recorded in the past, but never used (which I assume means adding/restoring some cut content).

I was wondering if Revolution Software made any other statements on these matters, and if there is a more comprehensive list of the changes they are planning. As much as I am a big fan of the game, I am not sure I want to buy it again just for the graphic improvements, and this talk of changes seems a negative overall to me (but I don't know enough to be sure).

My preference would be to add the Nico segments and revised puzzles from the directors cuts and place them into the original while keeping the original jokes and conversations/ interactions intact. (More content would also be welcome)

The biggest gripe I have with the 'minor' cuts to the conversations is you don't really see the rivalry between George and andre develop properly.

I will keep an eye out for any info but I don't know much about it at the moment sorry

An option to punch Lobineau for calling us 'Georgie' would be nice :cozybethesda:

To be honest, I am not in love with the new content from the director's cut. It's not terrible or anything, but I feel like it's not relevant enough, hurts the pacing of the story, and ultimately doesn't quite fit. It was nice to see it when the DC first came out, but I hope they make it optional, if they decide to include it.

I seriously like both of the first two games, and I found a lot of the lines that were cut (even the "poop joke") funny or at least fitting the mood/atmosphere, so I wasn't really a fan of the changes in that department. Then again, I am not really a fan of cutting content in general, especially in a timeless classic. Well, I guess I can always replay the original, so being optimistic doesn't cost me anything.

I agree the Nico parts does disrupt the pacing (and also makes broken sword 2 seem super short when you play them back to back). I have saves on the directors cut which are the start of each Nico part and I play them first. Then I play through the original version to keep the original pace and full conversations. Its not perfect but i prefer it that way👍

I would imagine the perfect scene for this would be in broken sword 2 when they meet at the cafe. I cant resist showing Andre the tequila worm everytime I play it haha😁

Not really a fan of changing content, especially when it is motivated by a fictional "modern audience." The kiss scene for instance didn't escape comment from Nico in a manner as to imply 'I can't believe you just did that, it was not cool.'
I think a big positive about this game was about restoring it is its original form, for instance the legendary "Paris in the fall" opening was removed in the directors cut in order to shoehorn in the the Nico segments. Taken purely in isolation there was nothing wrong with the Nico segments, and you can argue it adds a bit of background to the events before George, and I guess it did seem odd in the original story that George is doing all the running around and Nico is just impatiently waiting for all the information to be given to her as opposed to being an active participant, however, as was stated, this does disrupt the pacing and flow of the game in a negative way.

The polygon interview has definitely bumped this down the priority from a 'day one' purchase to a 'wait and see'.

lol, once this game is released, I'm going to hate having to play all 3 versions of this game back to back, just to experience everything. :steamsad:
