Kaede has the twirl/swirl move too. But Hayate's jumps definitely feel better.
can't test it here since im away from my PC, can anyone here turn off everything in the settings and see if it fixes that jump delay issue.
The jump windup takes six frames. That's why there's a delay, because the devs designed it with a long delay because they did a bad job.
Note the short jump in the second screen of the first level, on the rotating platforms, there is a part where you have to drop down to one of those platforms and then jump forward, but Kaede gets almost right to the edge of the wall (in fact I died several times because I couldn't reach it). I don't know if the idea is for Kaede to grab onto everything or if they just didn't do the jumping action right. I think she should get to the other side by jumping without any problems.
