This means we'll most likely see hommages and stuff, but it's unlikely we'll see the exact same ships (which didn't really stay consistent anyway). Also Aqua will be less developed, i.e. we probably won't see a giant Neopolis or Atakama City. Most locations will most likely be research and mining stations, some probably makeshift transformed into living space.
Also the former dead bio material covering the oceans (POM) is gone. This time the hazard keeping humankind from returning to the surface are rouge nano robots.
While I wouldn't have minded keeping the existing setting exactly as it's been, I don't really mind changes and alterations, especially considering the backstory of the original Archimedean Dynasty started early 21st century, i.e. it would no longer be consistent with the real history we know. The important aspect to me is that they stay true to the original look and feel. Aquanox always has been far too bright and colorful for my likings.
I would like to see visual changes when you change out engines, fins, sonar, weapons etc. leading to many different visual styles where it would be possible to determine what kind of threat a boat was simply from looking at it.
Is it a fast ship and/or nimble? Or is it a well armoured tank or glass cannon? A quick glance could allow for a snap decision on how you want to approach this new contact, do you fight or do you run?
EDIT: Oops! Forgot the main video on the store page does show some of this stuf already. Various modules have different stats. Over one the right you can see scan range but I see nothing regarding the noise that your boat makes. That would make for an interesting balance, and chance for emergent gameplay. Do you go for a stealthy ship or a noisy one?
