ILLGSMES posted that there's no successor https://twitter.com/ILLUSION_staff/status/1692386002550345785
and is warning you against similar games not from Illusion.
Probably some old employees created this one.
2.The ILLGAMES site doesn't have the company location written on it, which is unnatural. (There is no work location written even on the recruitment page! In Japan, it may be illegal to recruit without a work location or the name of the recruiting company.)
3. Part of ILLUSION's Twitter account is used in ILLGAMES as it is, just by deleting the log.
From these, I suspect that they are saying, "Because it is the same operating company, there is no 'successor company'."
Sorry if it's hard to read because I'm using a translation site!
Further having the actual legal company name would tell us more. Illusion was a kabushiki kaisha (KK) which meant they had shareholders and a board (FYI, you only need one shareholder for a KK). It's possible that Illgames is a goudou kaisha (GK) which is more partnership focused and doesn't have shareholders or a board. Asides from company structure, both have different liabilities.
Now, if the reason for this change is, as some of us suspect, due to the nature of changes in Japan's laws governing adult content, then it stands to good reason that the change is to distance themselves from past titles that could, given the nature of changes in the law and the lack of grandfather clauses, now see them in legal hot water should they remain on sale (all old Illusion titles have been pulled from sale from Japanese storefronts). We'll have to wait for Illgame's second title to know if there's any weight to this theory. If the second title isn't lifelike (e.g., not that same as Room Girl) then we know photorealistic games are no longer viable and that would tie in with the changes to the relevant Japanese laws.
As for why Illusion titles are still sold on Steam? A likely answer is that Illusion don't have anyone on staff capable of accessing the required backend tools on Steam. And thus, need to find a way to work with Valve to remove them.
In one little text box under an image of a model that could have just been one of the anime models. Sorry, but I'll believe that when it gets a proper announcement.
At the bottom of the site it says "Not only anime, but also real games are under development"
That is sufficient information in the absence of any other information. Or what do you believe were intended to be communicated there?
If they cannot do so for legal reasons, I'm very curious as to why they state that they intend to do so... this is very typical of illusion as well, with their whole illusion labs spiel.
No matter, if they continue as illusion, it'll be announced by the end of March, so stay tuned I guess.
fairly standard industry practice for companies with seedy pasts
"Real" to a Japanese company could mean anything "not" anime. Bethesda characters in Elder Scrolls games are "real" compared to "anime" but you wouldn't call them photo-realistic. (Taken as an example because Skyrim has an extensive ero community).
Besides, companies make promises on their websites all the time and then have to remove them when they prove unobtainable. Claiming you're making something means very little until it's actually got a release date, and even then can still fall through. Happens in game dev a lot. So yes, we will wait and see. Though not by March. That would be about the timing for the Honey Come expansion.
